so much wtf going on
Right? I've got more questions and no answers to my previous questions
But still want to know more. Did visit reddit for some speculations and theories after season ended -

I'm fully convinced now that Servant is just made to settle a bet between tv execs whether you can put out a show in which literally nothing happens or is ever explained and people will watch it.
I know m knightrider scamadingdong likes to put the big pivotal twist that explains it all at the very end of the story but that works for a 2 hour film, not a fucking 3 season tv show. you know what makes a characters actions interesting, knowing the reason why they're doing it. know what is infuriating and shit? watching people do whatever the fuck they feel like with no explanation why they're doing it, for 30+ episodes. they dont even give you enough to feel wtf about the mystery like lost and its ilk. here you may as well be channel hopping with the tv muted and pretending it's an interconnected story that will resolve itself somehow.
it's so devoid of depth if you look up discussions about the show everyone is talking about metaphors hidden in the wallpaper patterns and how the colour of a characters dress in one episode explains everything if you apply a 30 page dissertation of made up context. because there's nothing in the show itself worth discussing.

Finally got round to stating Dopesick on Dismal+
Pretty good, only 3 episodes in but am enjoying it enough to keep going.
Big Pharma is bad.

Dopesick
Yeah loved it, not the right words but terrifying story well told and some great performances.
Also enjoying the dropout in the same way
-
• #7606
Dropout is next on the list.
Will likely watch something less serious in-between though

Watching the original BBC Edge of Darkness. So good, if dated.
Still nice to see Bratfud CC as I remember it. Bob Peck and Joe Don Baker at their best.
Is the film worth a watch?

I am after your recommendation. I'm hooked, which is good because we only have the week long trial of apple TV.

In case people didn't know Better Call Saul is back out in April. Last one.
Also there's another season of Top Boy (which is amazing in case anyone hasn't seen it, both the original 3 part C4 and the Netflix).

Enjoying latest series of Top Boy although it doesn't make for particularly uplifting viewing
As for Dopesick, it starts off really strong but found i became less enamoured with it towards the conclusio n

Huge, I might re-watch the last series in preparation.

For those enjoying Dopesick, other than the book it's based on, Empire of Pain is an excellent read, focused more on the Sacklers.

The new Top Boy was great, I’m waiting for my nieces and nephews to start calling me Uncs.
Good news on Better Call Saul too, I didn’t expect that to be coming back.
This is on my must watch list too

Bad Vegan. Where to begin?! She's not dumb, but also she's really fucking dumb! How many red flags did she need?!

I'm 3 episodes in and it's really good.

I found Top Boy pretty heartbreaking but it’s really good telly.
I should hate all the villains in it but I always find myself rooting for Sully.

I always find myself rooting for Skully.
Always!

• #7621
And worth re watching Breaking Bad as S6 is likely to bridge the 2 shows

+1, entertaining enough but it lost its way

Getting into the laughably shit visual effects in Spiral now. Almost sad to know they won't be there in the second series but i'm glad i stuck with it. Unlike all the Scandi crime stuff i'm finding grim people and grim living a lot more convincing in Paris.
On a different note i thought Romesh in Sierra Leone on the iplayer was decent. Not always been a fan of his but i thought it was a good mix of sobering and uplifitng.

Always!
Even in the OG Channel 4 one? Surely not.
The only thing is I'm really enjoying it, so doing that thing of watching another and going to bed too late.
I do think it does a really good job of making you feel for the various characters.

One thing I always liked about it was that it's pretty nice to see a mainstream French TV show that's made it to the UK reflecting modern France not some sort of idealised France.
Also a +1 for the Romesh show... really seems to have hit his stride with that one. He can be a bit marmite but he seems to have found a good angle with this sort of Palin-esque self-deprecating semi-innocent abroad schtick.
Just finished S02 of Raised by Wolves. Loved it, so much wtf going on.
