I was unaware that the World was short of bamboo.
The Russian army bought all the stocks to make cope cages for T72s

When clearing out the attic of our new home this weekend, I found this
Doesnt have a plug on it at the moment, but I will be keen to keep it if it works. I love the look of 70's Hi-Fi

Plus you have proper tone controls and a loudness button, sadly lacking from modern amps. My 70s receiver is now my everyday amp.

any timber yard will cut wood to size

I'd have a look at places doing kitchen worktop offcuts.

^ this or (slightly morbidly) stonemasons that do gravestones also
-
• #11136
Haha that would actually be incredibly fitting given my record collection!
Thanks for the suggestions folks -

I went this route for getting a slab of marble cut and was dirt cheap compared to stonemasons and kitchen worktop people. Just needed something cut to size and was getting quotes of over £300+vat even with me supplying the marble. Headstone man just said £5 a cut and did a forth cut for free just to tidy it all up.
Got the slab of marble on gumtree for free.

I ordered a set of Pearl Acoustics Sibelius - demo'd at artandsound.co.uk in west london (great vibe if they stock anything you're interested in, its just a guys living and dining room full of gear)
Very excited, by a long way the most enjoyable i demo'd, in the end I figured I like speakers that are more 'warm' and 'fun' than 'accurate' and 'detailed'. The way they produce bass not with a woofer but through the cabinet is awesome (for my tastes).

Lol - same with my Totem’s. Keeping the same amp or do you need a new one? I think you need a new one.

• #11144
Possibly the same decade as the wallpaper and tile combo. To add, I love them both
-
• #11145
Well I need a new amp because I'm keeping the LS50s, just not decided whether the Hegel goes with the sibelius or sticks with the LS50.

Same decade - amp was* made 1977, house was last decorated in 1970.
*I saw was, as it appears that one of the workmen we had in liberated from our attic...

Room freshly painted, but the Tannoy Eaton Legacy are set up (awaiting another set of isolation feet) with the Gato DIA-400S (awaiting a hifi rack). This isn't their final placement, but it will do for now.
Even in this mostly empty room, with the windows open, they sound absolutely stunning and sublime.
Been running them almost constantly for a few days now. Things that really stand out is how effortless they are. Everything present and correct, nothing sounding muddy, every instrument in every track is clean and clear. The bass is naturally full (thanks to the 10" drivers), and the mids and treble crisp and never feeling second to the rest.
I'm still doing that thing of jumping around my music collection hearing everything for the first time. The difference between my MP3 files and FLACs is now obvious. Things that were barely listenable (Charlatans - Between 10th and 11th) are now extremely enjoyable.
The speakers are incredible. The amp likewise.
I'm excited by the thought of 2k books and some soft furnishings coming into this space, and the other isolation feet, etc. Not sure I'll ever stop being excited by music on this system.

Looks great, bet it sounds bangin’
They only make a few, and if it's a busy time of year for orders you get a long wait 🤷
It's been 4-5 months.
I think I would've ordered something else if I'd known.
I also ordered a hi-fi stand out of bamboo, an Atacama one. And have been told that it will take a couple of months due to "the bamboo shortage".
I was unaware that the World was short of bamboo.
