Fair enough!
Hence the belt drive
Ah, belt drive would be another added expense.
Any other upgrades? More powerful motor maybe?

Front loaders are better for actual cargo but rubbish for kids older than about 3.
Says who 😂

Kinda surprises me they don't have much hands on experience. Or maybe they do, they just don' spout about it on the internet like me.
Yuba Spicy curry, rode one the other day and yeah, spacious. Bigger than Tern, bigger than Benno Boost in the rear. Sure its parts aren't quite as swish, but unless your a heavy duty user I'd be quite happy with one of those.
Benno Boost > Tern GSD in terms of bike + accessories quality. And a GSD mk2 removing the rear wheel is a grey hair inducing affair (go back a few pages). They do genuinely fit everyone though, and you don't need any tools to achieve that. So for regular rider swapping, yup. With a Rohloff is a mad amount of money, also not quite sure where the £3k comes from, as from what I can see you have bought a full bike at full retail, then they've thrown away rear wheel and most of the gear stuff, then sold you a Rohloff at full retail, and an extra battery. And then yet still charging more? Maybe it has fancier other parts that isn't on the spec sheet?
Two locals to me have GSD with the dog house. Both thought it was great, until they used it a few times and quickly got bored of the flaps and velco/zips etc inserting and unserting kiddo's. Obviously weather is now better, but one has just sold the dog house as they won't use it again.
Try a spicy curry if you can find one nearby. If you go GSD mk2 defo go regular external gears, or full Rohloff. Don't bother with the cheaper IGH. And fit a tracker. GSD popularity = most popular stolen cargo by now i'm sure. Another one has walked from Glasgow last week. Dark grey or black mk2 single battery I think.

Fc have both the Tern and Benno in stock. Going in on Sunday to try both.

fit a tracker
I agree, and think this is a no brainer for any ecargo bike. Just fit and forget, gets charged via the drive unit and battery. Small expense considering the total cost of the bike.

• #9011
which tracker do you suggest?
-
• #9012
I'd go with Powunity as I'm familiar with it. Have tried one other and I didn't find it as accurate

how easy it is to install on cargo gen 4? and which option should I buy?

I always used the Bosch universal in both Gen2 and Gen4. You'd have to DM them to find out benefits of the other options.
I'd say it's easy if you know basic bike maintenance. If you want to make your GPS unit extra secure pop a Hexlox on the NDS crank arm.

There's an FAQ on their site for that.

Give backpedal a call, they use the powunity ones and they will actually track the bike down for you if it gets nicked. I'm having mine fitted on Monday.

😂 Still carrying around an 8 year old in ours and on weekends we can squish x2 8 year olds in it.

Anyone riding a Porterlight cargo bike? Just saw one come up for sale here in Dublin but don’t know anything about them.
-
• #9020
Never seen one before, might be wrong but it looks like they’re no longer trading
Is it a good price ?
-
• #9021
Here’s the link to it I’ve no idea what they originally cost either. Yeah I don’t think they are trading anymore https://www.adverts.ie/26268399

Fully Charged have always been helpful for me. We've had a few issues with our Urban Arrows and trailer that they've managed to sort out fairly rapidly. I think they have a cargo specialist mechanic in a couple of days a week so maybe you just need to catch them on the right day.

A fully working cargo bike for about a grand is not bad value. Bit of an unknown with the brand and design but if you like it and think it can do the jobs you want it for it could be a good shout.
Be worthwhile to take it for a test ride if possible, both loaded and unloaded to see how it handles. Hard to get first impressions as the handling often takes a little while to get adjusted to 👍
I guess also keep in mind that accessories and any niche parts might be hard to get hold of, ime with cargo bikes they normally use regular bicycle parts, with maybe a handful of things that are unique to the bike.
could be worth contacting the manufactures in case they’ve got some useful stuff in storage or something if you did get it!

I have a yuba spicy curry for similar child carrying reasons, my youngest is now out of the yepp (with an older one in front) and we have a bench seat with a bar all around it to carry 2x sprogs. If you've got space I'd recommend the yuba over the tern, it's more stable at speed and the tern is very cramped if you're anywhere near 6'.
Front loaders are better for actual cargo but rubbish for kids older than about 3.
