  • Whats the buzz about these X50s? Are they any good or are people just buying them because they are cheapz?

  • I bought one of these for about £20. https://www.procook.co.uk/product/professional-x50-chef-nakiri-knife-165cm-65in
It's good for the price, and fitted the criteria of what I was looking for but it would be expensive at full price (I'm not sure if it ever sells at that).

For those who do like ProCook stuff (and at the discounted prices it does seem to be decent stuff) there is a shop on Tottenham Court Road.

  • What he said^

My neanderthal kitchen skills and eating habits don't warrant spending a lot and/or getting a wide variety/whole set - so something that looks nice, isn't crap, and is cheap ticks all the boxes.

Also the wooden handles quite nicely match the Opinel bread knife we got recently :)

For reference, the last 12 years or so in the kitchen I've only used a single Victorinox Fibrox I got at TKMaxx which has generally done fine (confession: until I snapped the tip off using it as a screwdriver)

  • cheapz

    Mainly.

For the avoidance of any doubt it is not a £50 knife. But it's definitely better than your usual cheap knife and excellent vfm.

I'm not gonna lie and say the price wasn't a major motivation in my purchase, but mainly I don't have a Nakiri and haven't used one before. So it was a bit of a PoC for me.

I haven't seen the Professional knifes, but I did get a steel from the Professional X50 range and it is very well finished.
