I went with a generic vertical laptop stand from Amazon and just have the laptop in there and plugged into the monitor with one of Apple's horrendously expensive but seemingly the only way to guarantee they'll actually work USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapters (with the added bonus I can also use it to connect the iPad Air to a telly too).
Whole lot for £95 and can easily take my little dongle out to anywhere I think I might want to use it. Matron.
