Unfortunately his basically new GSD was stolen before being able to fit most of that to it. Very good pricing, not sure if insurance paid out and he's left with some goodwill parts.
But still, Cargo bikes starting to go missing in the UK now. Not sure where they end up as doubt they are worth transporting to the far flung reachs like regular bikes are (turn up in Lit/Lat/Est/Serb/Bulgaria etc very often)
edit. Jeesh, sorry I tempted the fate @charliefran . Up until recently you had to be pretty unlucky for this to happen :/

That sucks! I see that bike outside hub velo all the time.
Definitely keep my eyes peeled, where in hackney was it stolen? Was it locked up outside?

I'm on the lookout for a long tail capable of fitting wide-ish (ideally 2.2") tyres for some off-road touring with the dog. This would end up being my second cargo bike so don't want to spend loads of money and won't be carrying loads of stuff so on the lookout for an older Kona Ute or similar... I remember seeing lots of these locked up and seemingly abandoned in London by a handyman company. Anyone know of one for sale?

I've got just a frame(no forks) if you fancy a project?
It is an early one for 700c wheels and a rear v brake. £100
Or I could sell ours and I'll build up the early one.
It's a later one,26" wheels and discs f+r
Currently need cranks as I borrowed the 165 that where fitted for my daughter's bike during lockdown when we couldn't find any to buy.Can probably find some 170 cranks to refit.£500
Based near Wembley, but can get them to St.Pancras weekdays easily enough. -

German newspaper unironically complaining about the amount of space cargo bikes take.

Yeh sadly was pinched at 6am near beck road.

Its written as if 'look at zee cargo bike, its blocking all of the way', not noticing the astra totally filling the pavement, in a dead straight way, not ironically? hahaha, people.

It looks to me like both are leaving enough room on the sidewalk, which still makes the article a joke.

Fully Charged saying UA are ghosting again about production status of the Family so have asked if I would consider either a Benno Boost-E or the Tern GSD. Thoughts?
-
• #8989
Get the GSD.
Benno accessories are limited.
-
• #8990
The combinations of accessories are a little confusing. What I liked about the UA family is the ability to just drop either mini_com or a load of shopping in the bucket out front. What would give similar ease of use on the GSD?
-
• #8991
were you going to buy a canopy/rain cover for UA?
-
• #8992
Yes. Mini_com will be 3 in May and is tall for her age, if that changes things.

Then you need these to replicate on a tern:
The skeleton for child seat: https://www.ternbicycles.com/uk/accessories/471/clubhouse-0
The lower part of weather proof box that also replicates as a massive storage without child: https://www.ternbicycles.com/uk/accessories/471/storm-box (comes with a great cover called cargo lid)
The platform on which the box (its not a box just a heavy tarpaulin material) sits: https://www.ternbicycles.com/uk/accessories/471/sidekick-wide-decks
And the rain cover: https://www.ternbicycles.com/uk/accessories/471/storm-shieldI have this in front paired with a eurobox that can take upto 20kg of stuff: https://www.ternbicycles.com/uk/accessories/471/transporteur-rack
Within that whole child carrying 'system' at the back when they grow out of a seat like Yepp Maxi they can just sit directly into that cage that has bar tape on the sides to hold and comes with a cushion seat that is removable.

And remember you can share the tern with your partner, its just as easy if not easier than riding a normal bike, everything is well thought out, you may face mechanic's rage 'on here' but it just works. I am absolutely loving mine, so much better than a front load cargo bike for kid carrying.
Get the R14 IMO.

Cheers. Where does the R14 earn it's extra £3k?

Rohloff (ease of wheel removal going from what people have said here) and you get 2 batteries, 70 miles-ish range.
-
• #8998
how much is e rohloff?
regular rohloff is only about 1k ish. batteries are up to £500 each these days? I dont know. 3k seems a big jump
-
• #8999
fuck knows, tern asked for money, i gave them

@stevo_com take a test ride with child obvs, my kid loves it. Also Fully Charged are clueless about the bike itself, they cannot answer basic bike mechanic questions, they generally say 'bring the bike to the shop' and to that I say no, hence the rohloff and belt drive. We use the bike every day vs I drove my car 3 months ago.
