  • Any suggestions for how to fix this pendant? The black part is some sort of resin and the silver part is silver. Is there some sort of adhesive that would stick them back together without being visible afterwards?

Nah, take the opportunity to make Kintsugi

  • I'm guessing the thing was make by breaking out parts of the silver ingot and then casting the voids with something like an electronic potting compound, so you could do the same again but prepare the crack surface properly this time with an activator so that the resin actually sticks.

  • I’m supposed to be going to Mallorca tomorrow to do some cycling around Pollenca. I’ve not been before so not sure what to expect. Spanish Met Office suggests it’ll be a bit blowy - 40kph winds with gusts up to 70kph. http://www.aemet.es/es/eltiempo/prediccion/municipios/pollenca-id07042#detallada

Anyone familiar with the area have any advice on where’s going to be safe to ride in these conditions?
    Thanks!

  • Both good suggestions, thanks! We have a Kintsugi kit knocking about already due to my cack handedness.

  • I certainly wouldn’t be riding for pleasure with gusts to 70 kph.

  • The two main routes out are straight up hill so you’ll find out if it’s safe to ride fairly quickly and reasonably safely - I would have thought.

  • Having spent a bit of money organising a cycling holiday, I’m trying to figure out if I can rescue it rather than giving up before I’ve even gotten on the plane. It’s certainly not the weather I would have chosen!

  • Thanks, that’s useful to know

  • Worth avoiding Formentor with winds like that.

  • Don’t be put off by my wimpy attitude, and besides, weather can change!

  • Super glue, but cover the bits you don't want want it to stick to with something (vaseline maybe?) before sticking it.

  • How do Sportful bibs fit compared to Rapha?

  • Every bit as good, but without wanker tax. My current team kit is Sportful, the previous was Giordana which was even nicer.

  • You might like Pas Normal Studios.

How do the Sportful bibs fit compared to Rapha? Same size? Size up? etc

  • Sportful is the same company as Castelli these days. And Karpos ski gear. https://www.mvcgroup.com/en

  • Similar fit to Rapha Pro Team.

  • Someone has made an account for an online service using my email address. Or, their email address as originally entered, is being transformed into my address by the provider's site.

I can demonstrate this by trying to create a new account, using my credentials. I then get an email asking me to verify my account, but the account is listed as someone else's.

I've asked the service provider to un-link my email address from the account but they're being useless - they keep asking me to update my password. But I can't do that, because I don't have an account with them and never have had.

Is there a name for what has happened here and is there a third party that I can appeal to if the provider doesn't resolve it? I don't think it's theft of my identity as the situation erroneously gives me potential access to someone else's account rather than vice versa.

  • Can you trigger a password recovery to your email address? I frequently do that when people sign up to random things with my gmail account and then delete the account. If there is no delete I'll some times change the email address to support@whatever the site is.

  • I can do that, but then I'm deleting someone else's account, and the service provider claims (incorrectly) that the account is associated with a different email address.

Something fishy is going on but it's not necessarily true that whoever created the account is bad actor.

I can show the weirdness by trying to create a new account using my own email address. It generates a password reset email, sent to me but stating that it's for someone else's account with a different address.

  • I can do that, but then I'm deleting someone else's account

I figure that is better than me getting their prescription/dating matches/pizza confirmation. If the support people are useless and don't help there isn't much else you can do.

  • What would cause this on a front mech hanger?

  • Or electrolytic corrosion if it's a steel frame and it was rivetted on. Salt will speed up the process though.
