Same ponderings here
Have a gaming PC with 2 4k monitors (monitors each have 1x displayport connected to pc, and 2x hdmi spare)
And have M1 MacBook Pro 14 to connect along with power delivery etc
Would like to use the MBP at the desk without faffing with cables each time.
Had used a cheapy one a while back that the monitor seemed to cut out often

LG 5k could act as a hub
From my epic issues with trying to get a one cable solution for my screen, I found that the LG5K screen only has one thunderbolt to connect to a laptop etc, and the other USB C ports are just normal 5V inputs. If your Wacom draws more power than 5V it might explain the issues you're having.
I've got the LG24" Ultrafine 4K and that's got two thunderbolt ports which both deliver the full power output. I don't know why LG didn't include two ports on the 5K screen?
Seems like it's hubtime :(
Was hoping that my LG 5k could act as a hub but apparently not. My wacom is hooked up from usb-c to apples usb-c-usb converter but it keeps cutting out. External hdd's as well.
Do I really need that Caldigit thing or can I go with something more sensible? Had a look around but there seems to be a random range of ports on most of them. Some has VGA, some has card readers, some has ethernet. I just need a few usb ports and a few usb-c, all with enough power to actually run stuff.
