I really do love these. Are they a commentary on the teetering housing market and its distorted relationship with the innate human need to feel safe, as well as our frail attempt to preserve nature and protect our planet?

Hey cheers. They’re nothing quite so incisive or topical I’m afraid. I guess in a way they’re my attempt at expressing various things about myself, my mental state and my relationships with people, through the medium of vague, non-committal quasi-metaphor and half-baked juxtaposition :-D

That sounds much more interesting than my ham-fisted art tourist critique. I can't abide by anything fully baked, committed with singular metaphors, Banksy for example.

Don't get me started on Banksy! :-D

Yeah, I'm much more about fudging and vague-ing up than being on-the-nose.

This is definitely the most 'classic editorial illustration obvious metaphor' thing I've ever done (for the Bristol Cable newspaper). Made me feel a bit grubby :-D
I'm doing something else for them today actually, but luckily I can just draw a building for this one! Might even pop it on stilts, to really make myself feel comfy,

Definitely add some stilts. Always thought the Bristol Cable was a filthy pun on the Bristol Stool Chart.
^ that's cool though, editorial stuff rarely requires nuance.
I support the fudging.

I've spent a few Sunday mornings doing some studies of the growing number of house plants we have.

14 drawings in total, some ranging from 15 mins to 1.5hours!

Feels good to complete a project and put it on your wall!!
