Sorry to hear you got covid, hopefully no lasting effects.
I knew you were leaving the AD. :) Good luck with the new job!

Impulse bought the Pro Trek 10 minutes ago... just got to hope it doesn't look stupid on my tiny wrist.
Garmin looks interesting, I assumed something with so many features/gps would need constant charging - oh well I'm sure the Pro Trek will do ok and fingers crossed I won't have to rely on it too much.
We'll be riding through LA around July or August if you're around for a ride or hike.

Central and South
First, look forward to hearing about how this goes as I love that part of the world. I met an Austrian guy cycling South to North in Colombia.
Second, I'd suggest nothing too expensive, and with an easily replaceable strap. Both times I've travelled Central and South America I've got through a couple of watches due to strap damage. I would add that I'm not someone who is generally careless with their stuff. Deet, sweat and waves wreck your stuff.
Third, with smart phones you don't need much in terms of tech. A few people I met had garmins with GPS and elevation, but TBH for what you're doing my priorities would be:
- Comfortable
- Legible
- Inexpensive
- Looks
Last time I started with a cheap waveceptor(sp?) and liked the tide function when I cba to set the location. But ultimately with a phone even things like alarms, world time, or even a backlight for when you're in dorms are redundant.
Sorry if that's taken the fun out of the discussion.
- Comfortable

I am going to buy an Instinct at some point. Hiking with a Wahoo Bolt and taking it out of my pocket all the time to make sure I'm on course is annoying when there's no clearly defined trail or lots of junctions.
Oh you know I am! :-) I'll DM you my phone number. I've heard about this trip of yours through the grapevine - ha. Hope you have fun.

When I bought a Sub from Watch Guru they told me it was a great watch for a traveller because it was pretty much a form of currency which could be sold anywhere in the w0rld if you ever need money in a hurry.

I'm sure the guy taking it off your wrist in Brazil had the same thought

You are probably right on that , I mean if there is one thing that is constant in my "watch life" it's my obsession with moonwatch/Speedmaster. I have already put the 1990's Omega sales guide I found with all my other moonwatch books .

Now that everything Russian is bad, cosmonaut memorabilia prices will dive. Astronaut memorabilia will be AAA rated.
Alternatively there could be a swastika effect, and anything vaguely Putinish will be snapped up by by slack jawed Americans.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

I'm here all week.
That bracelet looks super nice . Bit thinner than the one on my 57 Railmaster reissue . Needs to be fully brushed though . Rocking old school today, Manuel wind.
