  • Is anyone here interested in Chris Froome's comments on TT bikes?

You will need to fast forward about the first seven minutes of this since he's just talking about himself.

However, to his credit he does say that doing away with TT bikes, which he advocates, would actually disadvantage him.

His basic thesis is that TT bikes are dangerous, especially when ridden under training conditions on non closed roads, and he asks whether the sport (I think he means professional cycling) would lose anything if TT's had to be ridden on normal road bikes.

My first question here is: would CTT events follow the lead of the pros if they did go back to TT's on road bikes?

Because the board is unpredictable and insane, they might. If they were sane, they would have banned tribars 30 years ago.

As we get older Tester and I seem to be more and more in agreement.

Quite aside from the safety issue, tribars pretty much invalidated the whole heritage of existing TT records at a stroke.

'regardless of the actual facts of the matter' (Tester's second post).

Yes 'actual facts' don't have much influence - my impression is that there is a slave like following of what the pros do; that's why I'm inclined to think CTT would change.

However, there does seem to be a feeling in the air that there's some virtue in using road bikes for TT's, is there not?
