• The experience I have seen growing up in London’s poorest neighbourhoods is, if you are black and under suspicion from those in authority, your race and not your age will always be the first consideration. That level of fear in society against black teenagers (preadult usually 13-14 years old) needs to be broken..

    many of my friends in the mid 80s south London were either wrongly accused or incarcerated for minor crimes.. yet there was an expectation from their peers to be ‘the man’... despite the fact that they still had a long way to go before reaching adulthood aka 21 years old
