C5 ("Aircross" is the one I have) is brilliant until you have to wait over an hour with the engine running (!) (to prevent "sleep mode"...) for a map update, which I had to go through few weeks ago. Also if you're on a bluetooth call (parked) and you unlock the doors, it may or may not drop your call...

Not to come across as a total bellend, but am not a fan of the non hydraulic suspended citroens.
Not sure if I am a fan of the cars that just have hydraulic suspension, prefer the brakes and steering all powered by the green goo ;)
The map update sounds like a real ball ache and I am a luddite. Paper maps are better for the Brain ;)

When the Outback dies pretty certain I'll go C5 estate too, they look great.

Cheers all.
@lynx I don’t know anyone who lives in that part of London #sansgolfclubs. The ease of parking near a hotel I’m staying at which is near my company office is appealing, otherwise I’d be staying with friends and likely get more sensible parking options.
JustPark has quite a few options but fuck me people charge a lot for parking a car on a few meters of tarmac in London!
I think I’m going for Shelton Street Parking which is actually not a private space but some commercial outfit and is close enough to where I need to be - gets good reviews on JustPark too.

Forgot to pay the Dart charge a few weeks ago (well, usually ms_com does it at the time as she's not driving; but for the sake of my sanity "we" forgot to pay it). Got the £35 fine in the post today, bang to rights. Went to pay it, entered the PCN number and it only asked me for £2.50 (the usual Dart charge). No other option to amend or pay the £35 fine. Even got the below;
You have paid £2.50 for the penalty charge and crossing fee
Your payment confirmation number:
500******
Do I now just forget about it?
-

@stevo_com I would forget about it yeah. I’m also expecting a fine as I forgot to pay in the time frame and paid a few days late but not heard anything yet.
-
• #70409
I had the same, reading in more detail it seems that the fine is at their discretion so you are often let off the first time.
I set up automatic payments after that.

Good to know, cheers

First time I went through forgetting to pay I only got charged the crossing fee, with a warning that I'd be fined next time.

I have a mini road trip planned in the DS next week . From Wiltshire to Staines on Thames where it’s booked in for a major service including tappets, carb tune, LHM flush, new oils, starter motor, fuel pump etc etc. Then a drive down to West Sussex to stay in a hotel by the coast to then pick up this huge SM poster for my garage before another drive back to Wiltshire via Arundel for a coffee. Can’t wait!

Has the LHM been flushed before as usually using hydraurincage? Usually run that through the system for 5,000 KM.
Nice poster.

None that I know of.
Which model number Clio is it. If is a rear drum brake, any garage can do it and with a press it is a sub hour job. Sure it is that one ;) I've made that mistake before.
As for checking a wheel bearing if there is play that can be felt with the wheel off the ground, maybe wheel off there is little other way to tell other than stripping a bearing out to see the faces and rollers of the bearing.

If you had a Citroen CX gti Turbo, would you add a little nitrous kit to get round the turbo lag...then fit a bigger turbo to balance things out?
-
• #70418
Amazing. Something in this current world that doesn't try to rinse people for the max they can is very, very rare.

• #70419
Yah, mate used to have a collection of DS + CX. Sold most of the good ones in 2017/18 when the prices started going mental. Now he prob wished he held out a few more years, would be buying one of those big boy yachts!

Buy a mityvac or similar vacuum tool for cars. Super useful for bleeding brakes (theres these stupid ones made by a company called Magura that are specifically designed to grow air inside them, vac tool only way of getting rid, Dammit knows all about..), clutchs especially, and sorting air problems in PAS systems + coolant systems. £80 or £90 for the starter car workshop kit.
Worth.

History on the car is a bit vague - i've done around 5500 miles in it in the past couple of years so the garage are replacing all the LHM, filter in the LHM tank etc etc. Tickover is around 30 seconds but i'm hoping they can improve that as there are always a few drops of green stuff on the floor..

So handsome.

The colour is lovely too. Such a cool car.
-
• #70424
Thanks both , i've found out due to a lot of poking and research that the original colour is brun scarabee which i quite like. I'm also hoping to find out if the original DS 20 engine was swapped out at some point for a DS21 as the exhaust manifolds are from a 21 but the carb is from a 20...
Also check out this site if you've got a load of cash to splash (better than new)

Yeah yeah C5 are brilliant...am jealous of yours.
Have you seen the carlsson version of the C5?
Only thing I'm not sure of is if the suspension is hydraulic, suspect it isn't as the suspension is supposed to be lowered and stiffened and not sure how you can do that with the spheres. As it isn't a case of adding more nitrogen.
