You have more chance of supervising a crane than getting the average labourer to pay attention, you'll probably get more sense out of it as well.
Corvids would have the most sense, and subsequently be most resistant to supervision. Pheasants are too stupid to take direction, so Iād agree, cranes would be a good compromise and would likely accede to your persuasion.
It's best not to distract labour from important considerations, such as whether to have crisps or sandwich first.
