Sorry drop a dose of "budget watch" but I am considering this gaudy monstrosity.

Lol.
It's… tolerable. I think it makes sense for the watch. It's basically a perfect "one nice watch" Speedmaster for the average punter who isn't hung up on having the astronaut version. Date, magnetic resistance, nice bracelet, adjustable clasp, all the modern appointments (apart from it not being automatic, but that also makes it more Speedmaster-y). If you wear it every day the date is less of an issue than it would be in a bigger collection where you're rotating stuff all the time.
I'm not anti dates on watches. I find them useful. Worst thing about the date in this case is that they've done a bit of digital stretching to make the numbers fit and it's at odds with the rest of the typography, which is quite nice overall. Apart from that it's pretty well done. Would I prefer it with a normal index marker there? Yeah.

I see your fifty quid and a packet of Hob-nobs and I raise you fifty quid, a packet of DARK CHOCOLATE hobnobs (God-tier biscuit), a 10-speed chain and a ball of string.
Consider yourself gazumped. -

Whats the rrp? Can one get it at RRP?
I like it too... I'd definitely consider it if it was an automatic.
I quite like some of the speedy racing watches, but cant understand why they're so much more expensive than the regular ones.

They're not out yet. RRP is going to be £7740 on the bracelet. Can't foresee any supply issues, it's not going to be a Silver Snoopy situation.
Yeah, what is it between the autos (and the new hand wounds) and the Moonwatch, about a 2k difference? I think it's mostly the more modern and higher spec movement. Obviously a new movement is the best possible excuse to raise prices, but also, they do have to recoup the development costs. And having used one today, it really looks and feels a big upgrade from the old 861 series. The chrono seconds hand doesn't even do that little jump when you start it! 😂
But still, yeah. Omega are at least as bad as anyone else when it comes to price hikes. It'll keep happening as long as people are still buying.

Their whole pricing strategy is "Rolex but available"

• #62013
Coincidentally, that's also Grand Seiko's.

I'm seeing more and more GS that I like but no way in hell I'd pay close to £8k for one, let alone what they cost by the time I would have that amount of spending cash.

Nonbranded Seiko interest me.

Lads, the pusher feel of the 9908 in the Omega Chronoscope. It's so good.
I'm beginning to get worried about you :)

I tell you what, if you want a quick boost just look at the value increase that Chrono24 shows on watches that you own. Astonishing. /GC

Up 61% on the Oyster Perpetual in 2.5 years.
-
• #62019
Yeah, by the time they make the GMT I want them to make it’ll be 15k.
The whole price inflation issue is a massive bummer. Can’t get excited about anything because the cost is just ridiculous now.

Exactly. I don't know what correction factor should be applied to their estimates, but bloody hell.

I mean, obviously Rolex has been going silly, and the FOIS has risen since it got discontinued, but even the stuff I was flat on has jumped in the last 4-5 months. Eg the SLA017 - that stayed the same for ages and is now showing +17%.

I'd have one, but not over the "real" Pelagos.

Blue and green should never be seen?
The last watch I owned that didn't have quickset dates was a red and black Snoopy thing with big coloured areas to show am and pm, because I was 8.
