Gurus; Would a Shimano 105 fh5800 rear hub be compatible withe a CS-M8000 11-42 Deore/xt cassette? Is it like any 11 spd shimano freehub will support the 11-42 cassete if that is a s simpler way of putting it? I remain, in awe... ~Skip

Yes. You'll need a 1.85mm spacer.

I want to use an 8speed xt m732 friction shifter with a 10speed dynasis mech. The shifter pulls 22mm ish of cable from 1-8, the dynasis needs like 34mm to go the full range. Any bodges out there to reduce the mech pull or increase shifter pull? Or a cable majig?

Mini vice grips. I have a pair in the workshop and they nail it every time.

You can increase the effective diameter of the shifter barrel by laying tape in the groove.
You may need a cable anchor bodge as well to get all of the extra derailleur movement that you need.

Is it too wide to cleaning fit between the plates?

Not sure. I’ll offer it up to a bit of chain I cut off the other day.

This lad does it by filling off the little metal stop bit inside the shifter it’s around 20mins into the video

Anyone got a clue what sort of chainring/bcd I could buy to replace a ring here?

None, those are (or at least look) riveted on.

Yup buy a new crank. Shimano tourney around £40 rrp, alivio/acera (replaceable rings) are around £60 now.

Cheers, both.

I'm replacing my double chainrings for a single (or at least trying). Turns out the bolts (5 of them - 110bcd) don't fully tighten due to the reduced width of the missing chainring.
What's the best answer please? I'm thinking I either need some chunky washers to mimic the old inner chainring, or some shorter bolts??
Many thanks

These would do it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255021384359
Or a set of single speed chainring bolts (such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254960589961)

Need a Bottom bracket and can get a good deal on a model with angular contact bearings. Is this beneficial over standard bearings in a BB?

What is the difference between these two? Almost a 50€ price difference but I don't get why...

Taps are different? Cheaper has 4 cutting segments and the Pro has 6
