Anyhow, I've measured the aero section of the seatpost and it's around 24cm, so looks like you're out of luck there unfortunately.
oh wow thanks for measuring!! But yeah that's definitely for some compact geo not my flat top track bike. Cheers glws!

Those Zipp shifters are nice but I cannot justify at least £75 to get them right (£50 plus the service kit plus shipping)
I hope they find a new home soon
-

Oh well, the price you mention seems like a bargain to me. To put it this way-I could buy the kit, fix the shifters up and if for whatever reason then wanted to sell, I could aim for at least £150, based on the new selling price of £300/popularity of Zipp/SRAM kit/the relative scarcity of the shifters. But of course this is out of the question for me in my current housemoving circumstances seeing as the above is something that takes enthusiasm and some time which I'm in quite short supply of ATM,and of course I'm in need of immediate funds and the shifters were an ideal choice for my thread as they fit the theme and are certainly out of the ordinary. I don't think it's so much about the money, but about the enthusiasm and thinking the business through, like the above, so anyone else interested please take note.

Not arguing it's a good price, just weighing up this vs my current Dura Ace 10spd bar end shifters and the change required.
-

OK sure, it was just the fact that you seemed to be focusing on the money issue of what the shifters are worth in themselves in your reply before last.

Sachs freewheel SOLD
Plus THREAD UPDATE: photos now added for most of the kit listed (more to follow shortly), plus a good few new parts added to end of those listed.
Nb I'm not only interested in cash sales for everything, but would be happy to trader part-ex an item for a set of brake levers with 31.8mm clamps if anyone would have a set. -

Sorry, nothing's come through? Although there's already a dibs prior to yours, and he's followed through the day before yesterday. Although I was expecting him to pay me at some point today and that hasn't transpired, so possibly you're still in with a shout.

Do you still have the TA chainset (170mm and BB)? If yes then I will take it.
-
• #44
I do still have them, although in the listing I did try to indicate that the bottom bracket wasn't included, although I didn't actually mention a separate price. Not sure if you were thinking it was a package (I did mention that crank caps could be bought for an extra cost, so thinking most would assume the same for the bottom bracket). If you're still interested I'm happy to sell whichever bits you want, but would first have to work out all the prices.

'And I also have the bottom bracket the chainset was fitted to, so this also can be included if required.'
I took that to mean that the BB can be included bif required...you didn't specify, so I thought you might add the BB gratis and karma...if extra, how much extra and what is the BB in question?
-
• #46
I'll take the 160 TA cranks subject to a couple of questions.
Have sent a PM -
• #47
Well, as mentioned, I did think it could be fairly assumed that the bottom bracket wasn't included free ie why would I first ask for buyers to pay an extra cost for the caps, and then follow this up by giving away the more substantial bottom bracket. But yes, I could have been more careful and specific when writing the chainset details, but as mentioned in my OP, I tried to get across that I was struggling to get all photos and details for the many items listed, and the vagueness about the bottom bracket is one thing that's come about through that (and indeed, I'm actually still struggling as several items are missing pics and some description info). Anyway, I can confirm that the bottom bracket is a TA 344 model, although I've no more details ATM but can let you know. I will also be able to work out a price but would like to retrieve it from storage first in order that I can double check the condition is as I remember it to be.

• #48
Ok paying more for the bb...but and this is a big question...the 344 is for double and the 314 is for a single...I assume they are both asymmetric...Did you use the 344 as a BB for the cranks on a fixed gear bike and if so was the chainline ok?...Is it the a whole bb or just the 344 axle?

Well, with those specific questions, to answer them I should begin by mentioning that my chainset description only promised to supply the bottom bracket the chainset was originally set up with on a bike, and wasn't trying to promise that it was technically correct as how the manufacturers recommend for single speed usage and chain line etc. The fact that it was set up on a vintage bike, and fairly likely to have been ridden in that state for a good while, together with the fact that the parts in question were made by the same maker was the only quite small reassurance I was trying to give that buying them as a package would be beneficial. But regards the bottom bracket setup whilst it was on the bike, I should mention that it was set up as single speed up front with multi gearing at the rear. I would speculate that possibly the bike was bought as a multi geared bike with standard double gearing up front (hence the axle) and then converted for time trial usage with only the one gear up front. This makes me think of my comment for my thread's MDT chainring description, where I point out that ordinarily (although not in the case of the MDT ring, due to the special design) single geared front chainwheels (like this one is) can famously suffer from the chain shipping unless a front derailleur is in place to act as a chain guide. Well, the fact that I bought the bike without a front derailleur in place would then seem to suggest that this wasn't necessary, and in fact the single ring managed to not suffer shipping even without the superior design of the MDT ring just because the BB axle would have been an adequately correct length/had the correct symmetry. But after saying all that, I do still need to check the bottom bracket details because in fact, now that you mention the TA model for single chainring setups, I could actually have a poorly memorised the model number for the bb removed and it could actually be the 314 model, just for the reason that the two model numbers are so similar:) Anyway, I'll retrieve the bottom bracket and let you know. The other things I do remember about the business is that I disassembled the bike with the chainset and kept the parts together in a box to ensure it could be reassembled as it was originally, so therefore I will be able to locate the TA BB in question, and not an unrelated TA BB. The other thing is that all the bb components were TA branded ones, so this would ensure everything works together properly.

Registering Dibs / PM here as requested for the Mavic 195NE wheelset, you have PM
Yup, very true, and it makes me wonder how many people buying my kit will actually make use of it on bikes for serious racing, since I feel it would be a bit of a waste otherwise:) Or at least not just stick it on a novelty 'show' bike.
Anyhow, I've measured the aero section of the seatpost and it's around 24cm, so looks like you're out of luck there unfortunately.
