Bodged on a bit of pipe with a bolt which wasn’t the correct thread and a stack of washers so I can carry an extra light tonight on a slightly hazardous ride home. And it hasn’t trashed the thread in the fork boss.

Love the old school bend on that fork there, what frame does it belong to?

It's on my 1939 Parkes. Got a build thread on Retrobike but on here I think I've only posted about it in the pre-1950s thread.

Thanks, will take a peek at that thread.

Eldest rain pants were leaking. Even holds up to a washing cycle. I'd rate BBB’s patches higher than Park tool dito.

Are you not worried that mild steel or stainless steel is going to snap? Not saying it will, but this would make me nervous a bit (unless temporary, not ridden too hard until you get a half link?)
-
• #2286
I found the half link chain are shite so thought this cant be any worse. going to see how it holds up.
-
• #2287
I'm curious to know which half link chain you tried out?
And what went wrong with it -
• #2288
I’d love it if that worked.

Gusset half link. stretched super quickly.
-
• #2290
Full chain or single half link?
A full chain offers no further adjustability over a single half link in a traditional chain but amplifies the issue where the bends in the plates straighten a bit causing the link to elongate.
-
• #2291
Full chains are shit but just using one half link is fine.

My son bought some second hand Shimano shifters, the reservoir plug was steel and had stripped the plastic threads in the shifter. An hour on my lathe later

Hooked up a bell to my redundant rear brake lever and am quite chuffed with the result. It’s a crane bell with a hole drilled through the handle and a gear inner cable to minimise friction as the bell spring isn’t that strong. Obviously shouting is simpler but this is quite polite, video shows it in action

Top stuff!
Bit OT so sorry about that.
XC spike shoe has lost a bed, I've used some Araldite and a bolt with the same thread
