I quite like 2mm banana plugs covered in heatshrink (one piece on each half, not one piece over the whole lot) for semi-permanent but removable connections.

had to google, but those look like a better way to go than spade connectors! Also dyna snap, as per user timmah! recco, I'd seen mentioned before on here somewhere so that was in the back of my mind.

I'd have this sorted today if Maplins was still a thing :(
