Completely agree with the date window. I think the bevel adds a lot of depth and then compliments the bevelled edge of the hour markers well. If they didn't want to do that I think they should have done a metal surround, like they have on the smaller women's version. It looks cheap on a watch of that cost.
I think it's a conscious thing to try and differentiate the range a bit.
The other thing I'm potentially not so keen on is that I think the whole case is now highly polished. The previous 38mm had a nice bit of brushing on the side, good bit of contrast to play with the light.
I do like the look of the silver version though and the blue looks more like a really nice teal. I had the previous silver dial 38mm for a brief period but the dial was quite flat, not a rich gloss like the black.
