Indicating is to indicate your intention, you should indicate whether there's someone in your blind spot or not. Otherwise you wait or slow down until your blind spot is clear or something and nobody around you has any idea what you're doing.

Highway code
Rule 133
If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed. When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over.If there is someone along side you in your blind spot it isn't safe so you shouldn't indicate.

I'd argue that flashing a little yellow light to tell the person beside you that you intend to move into the space they're otherwise occupying is a rather necessary action and not unsafe.
Again, if you're travelling along and someone's in your blind spot travelling the same speed, what do you do if you're approaching a car in your lane that's moving slower than you, brake? The car behind you has no idea what you're doing. You plan ahead, indicate your intention, then slow if you have to and move over when clear etc.The highway code is great and all but I see people daily lurched forward over their steering wheel trying to check behind them in their mirrors before turning with no indication at all. By the time it's clear and they indicate they're already at the junction so you get 2 flashes of amber and a swing to the left

Yes. Although probably just take your foot off the accelerator a bit if you are anticipating just a little bit.
The car behind you has no idea what you're doing.
Yeah they do, you are slowing down because you have caught up with traffic ahead. If you are driving a car they can probably see that too.

That's great, but doesn't actually answer my question, do you think it needs extra rollover reinforcement due to the fact its really bottom heavy? I don't really know what the engineering standards are, most of the safety standards I see are to do with how tippable the car is, rather than how secure the cabin is in the case of a roll.

Nice. And a ā22. Disappointingly mines a ā71ā¦.
-
• #636
Itās a lease so ā22 doesnāt really mean anything. Will also be popping a private plate on anyway.
Definitely feels more premium than the 3. So much more practical for the little one too

@Soul looks awesome, that blue š
My drive from Dartford to north of Glasgow in the Model 3 was super on Tuesday. Took it easy and stopped at Keele and Gretna Green to
use the Super Chargers. Doing it there and back in a day was a bit bleak but it was trouble free - although I had genuinely forgotten how busy the roads in the south east are since being in Scotland for while.Greeted with a positive covid test yesterday so I canāt even drive the thing for a week so!

I managed a Devon trip in the ID3, stopped at a 350kw charger just off the M4 at a truck stop .Disappointed that it was charging at 40 odd.(Obviously id3 wonāt do more than 100?)
Nice drive down hardly touched the pedals , came back on one charge from totnes with 15 miles but firmly in the red .When in the red and orange zone the miles seem to hang in there a bit longer .
I am unusual in I donāt find the a/b pillar a pain , maybe itās driving position, but Iām impressed with the car so far ,4K miles in -

Are you allowed to stick a private plate on a lease car, just curious.
-
• #641
Most lease companies will allow it. Of course they then become the owner of the plate so itās a faff. Weāre keeping the Y for 4 years so itās fine.
Of course, thereās an āadmin feeā

Thanks for the quick reply, we have a private plate on retention and was wondering whether to put it on our leased mini.

How are you finding it?

I was about to PM you.
Itās excellent. Iāve done 600 miles in a week. Much better driving position than the model 3 and more premium feel.
Build quality is better and materials feel slightly higher quality. Window / door seals have been significantly improved which makes the cabin much quieter.
Space is also improved. Headroom and leg room are better and the boot is enormous.
Iām literally just the other side of the roundabout from you on Sunday (Peel Road) if you want to come take a look.
If I were you, Iād put down the Ā£100 order asap. Model 3 went up Ā£2k this week and the LR model 3 is now the same price as the LR model y. There was a 4k difference at the start of the year. I would expect the Y to increase in price literally any day.

Ah nice one! Thatās really handy. Iāll drop you a text tomorrow about Sunday if thatās alright? Would be nice to have a look at one irl.
Hmmm ok thatās good to know - itās a non-refundable deposit right? What options do I need to go for?
-
• #648
Sure. Drop me a text.
Deposit is listed as non refundable but they provide refunds if you quote consumer law.
IMO, I would go for 19ā rather than 20ā wheels. Ā£2k cheaper and nicer ride.
I have a white interior (+Ā£1k) which I really like but it requires keeping it clean. Other than that, itās colour of choice. It actually looks really nice in white which is the free colour.
-
• #649
Do you have any of the optional extras (other than white interior?)
-
• #650
No. @nobrows has EAP I think.
You can also add them to the order prior to arrival so donāt worry about locking them in.
My Kia doesn't have these cameras but it does have radar that beeps loudly and gently resists the steering if you indicate when something / one is in the blindspot (and beyond).
It feels like a very good augmentation.
It also flashes up warning lights within the wing mirror surface, whenever the blind spot is occupied, regardless of whether you are indicating or not.
