Happy to see that it looks like I may have been wrong with my McLaren prediction. Bring on a McLaren vs Ferrari season!

For those of you interested in the technological side of F1, my chum Kit Chapman, a most engaging science historian, has just written this book:
By chance he is also speaking at the Royal Institute on Monday 8 March. Tickets still available.

German papers are reporting that Mazepin is out at Haas. One paper has Fittipaldi racing instead, another has Giovanazzi back into F1. I don't think either of those two are going to set the world alight but they're definitely going to be better than Nikita

Fittipaldi is likely to take over for testing but would be surprised if he's racing in Bahrain, worth checking out how he managed to get his super licence (https://www.racefans.net/2020/11/30/how-pietro-fittipaldi-narrowly-qualified-for-his-f1-debut-this-weekend/).
Giovanazzi would be a much better option IMO

Absolutely. I guess it depends about how long he may have the drive for. Not sure Giovanazzi would give up FE for a couple of races with Haas.

I really like that move from the Haas team. Mazepin was driving that spot bc of his dads wealth and what that meant for the team.

Not F1, but this year's MotoGP is looking promising, Marquez back on form and Suzuki fighting at the front
-
• #8710
Suzuki have done an amazing job. Pre-season, IL4 engines had been pretty much written off. Now they’re fastest lap, fastest through the traps! Especially impressive given how tiny the Suzuki team is.

Haha - damn. Spoke too soon, just looked at today….

• #8712
Cant be any worse, it was a bought seat that he wasnt good enough for.

I wouldn't be surprised if they still manage to be a decent contender! Would be good to see them and Aprilla back up there fighting.
Though to be fair, I'm mostly just happy to see Marquez back on form. I'm not really a big rally fan but I can only imagine Sebastian Loeb is the only person who can even comes close to the sort of dominance Marquez has (well, had, we'll see how this season goes) over his rivals. After the past 2 seasons I would love to see him make a proper comeback.

Was not expecting Magnussen!

Me neither but I suppose another year in the weeds with inexperienced drivers isn't something they're positive about and if there's no cash-rich driver they can get, why not go for someone they know. Piastri would have been great but also Alpine and Ferrari would have been loathe to do it I bet.

Nikita Mazepin now on the sanctions list. He is also taking Uralkali money to create a fund for banned athletes.

Yeah I spotted that, bit hard to sell the "We compete as one" thing when your there as a result of dad's money who's cosy with Putin. Would've preferred to see him out of the sport due to his shit performance, but this'll do too.

Genius move I must say

Mercedes have turned up with a completely different car in Bahrain. No (!) sidepods and no lasagne floor. The new regs are insane.

Max / Checo looking at the new car is a certified meme template.

Looking at the sidepod pic again, it looks like they've designed the mirror mounts as wings (being held by the mechanic). Reckon that'll get protested in 10 seconds flat.

That bodywork looks like they didn't get the vacuum former hot enough
-

Someone spotted cooling intakes under the floor and are assuming it's to compensate for the side pods being deleted...

hahaha excellent
really happy for Magnussen though
They can just do what Lambo did for the Countach and the Diablo - skateboard wheels bolted to the underside.
