  • Having issues with my Triumph Explorer.
Turn the key and it does the usual preflight checks, fuel pump makes its usual noise, but pressing the starter does nothing.
I can hear a "click" but nothing happens.

There is also a whining noise when nothing is being pressed.
Quite quiet, bit like a little "wheewhooo wheewhoo" almost like an alarm noise, but almost inaudible.

Turn the key off it stops after a few seconds.

Managed to get a brief splutter from the starter after 5 minutes of trying (moved it, tried on the side stand, tried sitting in it, tried bumping it before realising I had no chance of getting it up to any speed to jump start)
But it didn't catch an no joy after that.

Going back in a bit to chuck a beefy lock on it.

  • I may have missed it, but what is the voltage on your battery?

My scrambler needs a high voltage to turn over. People often upgrade the rectifier to fix it.
