Russia's having a huge brain drain already. https://www.ft.com/content/a8b53d7a-08c5-484e-9dc6-cd4b2d889e3f Vlad will have to make exit visas hard to get. It'll be the Iron Curtain all over again. He really has fucked everything. I went to the Berlin wall in 1990 when the border opened, just to be there and hack some bits off the wall. It just beggars belief that he's gone so far backwards in a fortnight. I wonder if he'll go as far as fences and minefields and watchtowers? https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-03-09/ukraine-invasion-russia-s-brain-drain-will-be-hard-for-putin-to-stop

In terms of more bike related ways of funding, Zulu fixed are still selling and shipping Ukrainian made bike bits from inside Ukraine. Buy lots, send tips and get money to people on the ground locally. I’ve used one of their hip pouches for years and it’s fantastic.

I’ve just about gotten over the trauma of making those Plague Island stickers… so how about a be safe, be seen reflective one?
A little under 10x4cm. Tempted to make up a bunch, to raise money. Would be toward animal-based charities in Ukraine if possible.
If there are enough ‘yes’ then I’ll get to work. Don’t pm me yet though, gotta get my shed in order.

Has anyone got a link to more details about these documents that Ukraine was planning on a military operation in the two breakaway regions? I'm sure I saw it mentioned that Russia had found some, but not sure if that's just hot air.

Russia had found some
of course they did. They also just claimed there were secret US labs in Ukraine experimenting with bats that could transmit diseases.

How do these sanctions work if/when the war ends?
Do they just unfreeze the accounts and let them back at it? Keep the sanctions up? Kick off a load of unexplained wealth orders and seize the assets?
-
• #1574
If the war end, it likely to be used as negotiations, however a lots of sanction are from the private sectors, rather than government.
-
• #1575
I doubt the sanctions will go unless Putin goes
The amazing owner of a local veggie restaurant picked up an award the other night for all the work he's done in the community over Covid lockdowns and is now on his way to Lviv to help out an ambulance crew pick up some sick kids with liver failure after taking a load of supplies to Poland for refugees. Absolute belter of a human that man.
