Over the last couple of winters, and more so this year, we've had a few damp patches appearing in various upstairs rooms. From chatting with a couple of specialists, it seems that our type of copper roof was likely laid over what is essentially chipboard. Now that is 60+ years old that will have completely degraded. Have taken our heads out of the denial sand and have someone coming round to look at it on Friday.
I've been up and there don't seem to be any obvious faults. But anticipating that this is going to be a ruinously expensive outcome. God knows if it can be repaired/replaced using the existing copper. Certainly can't afford to replace with new. Possibly replace with zinc or something instead and sell the copper to help fund it. Not looking forward to this.
