Can't wait for aggro daypacking
I suppose it only requires the addition of a UK train journey somewhere with your bike

Isn't that just a long ride with some elaborate food prep?
Bumped into a neighbour last year who told me he was going on a big bikepacking trip in the mountains in Austria. Except he was doing a hotel to hotel ride and a non-riding mate was taking their bags between places in a car. I guess daypacking would be a better term for that sort of thing.

Have these people heard about coffee shops?
Should we tell them?Edit: all that, and he made instant coffee...
-
• #23667
I thought the whole point was coffee snobbery, foodie wankerism and show your titanium bike packing stuff and handmade bags without the hassle. And Insta of course.
-
• #23668
I put a down jacket, fresh base layer and a couple sandwiches in my Tailfin on my Ti All Road Bicycle for long rides. My insta is on fleek hun.

If you're going to make instant coffee anyway...surely it's far easier to just take a thermos with you?*
*I didn't really watch the video.

• #23670
But then how will you show off your titanium kettle attached to your saddle with a carabiner?
It's not the destination, it's the journey
-
• #23671
People who think you can put speciality coffee in a thermos for more than about 30 minutes don't deserve the 3rd wave and may as well just make instant.

• #23672
or Aldi preground in french press, start brew just as you are about to get dressed and taking the bike out, ready for Earthwell flask by the time you are stepping out
-
• #23673
as an avid day packer supporter, im here to tell you daypacking is just bike packing for those with agoraphobia and anxiety
-
• #23674
My method is to pour boiling water into the flask and leave for 10-15 mins before adding the hot drink. Does help it last longer.
Then put the flask in a pannier and tootle off for the day down some lanes and b-roads.
If there's some loose chippings or mud ask yourself if it would be worth getting a gravel bike, then realise it's not worth the hassle of setting up a #BikePacking specific #OutsideIsFree Instagram account and buying the right dangle mugs as it would get in the way of a nice day out.
Perhaps I should unfollow this thread again...
