Again, if you're travelling along and someone's in your blind spot travelling the same speed, what do you do if you're approaching a car in your lane that's moving slower than you, brake?

Yes. Although probably just take your foot off the accelerator a bit if you are anticipating just a little bit.

The car behind you has no idea what you're doing.

Yeah they do, you are slowing down because you have caught up with traffic ahead. If you are driving a car they can probably see that too.
