  • Have a feeling my dad is about to gift me his hornet 900 on Friday when he comes down here to pick up his new triumph.
I do want a bike and I would appreciate it but I don't really want it for in London. I live within the ULEZ zone so it would mostly only see central London traffic and for that I don't really fancy something as big as a 900.
Not sure what to do as I think he'll be keeping it a surprise

Edit: probably sound super unappreciative here lol. I would actually love the bike, he's had it since new in 2006 and it will be quite sentimental to me now and in the future but I don't want it sitting rusting on a London street when it's been garaged all its life until now and I'll never have it out of second gear.

  • How far does he live from you? Keep it and insure it at his place if there's room and it's not too far - take it out for the occasional blast. They're cool bikes - a minor cult classic.

They're super-civilised as town bikes by the way.

  • What is it with people giving you bikes?

He's an experienced biker, so if he hasn't already anticipated the difficulties his gift might present, I'm sure he'd understand what you wrote above.

But don't count your chickens: he might be chopping it in and is planning on getting on it, while he's in town...
