My very old but much loved commuter slag is wanting for a BB upgrade as the old JIS square taper Sugino cartridge 68mm x 103mm (BSA UN-55?) had been creaking for a while now and the bearings are pretty shot, the Sugino cranks were damaged removing them too sadly.

Can I switch to threaded cups (like the Shimano Hollowtechs?), I'm a little lost as to what BB and crankset combo would be a decent upgrade (Miche Primato) ?
Anyone upgraded their old Aluminium Langster similarly?
