Speaking of which, I found a great place to farm some grace, being summoned to fight Rennata. I'm high enough level that she isn't too hard and it's 10k each time you kill her.

I'm literally the same

Weird, I've been thinking the exact opposite. Best controller handling I've ever experienced. Everything about the driving is sublime, much of the rest is either baffling or infuriating.
For example in the 'missions' there are single-lap challenges to overtake all the other cars. Sounds pretty standard GT but on entering the race it's a grid start, which novel. Then you sit and wait for 25 seconds while all the other cars get a head start, effectively making it exactly the same as all the other events with the exception that you have to sit through that every single time.
24 hrs after starting, all licences at least bronze. 1200km driven. 52 cars owned and astonishingly none of them are Nissan Skylines.

I’m still really struggling with the handling. Thinking of picking up a drive hub and connecting my wheel. Just can’t get on with it at all.
I’m definitely not a fan of the missions. Rolling starts can fuck off. It’s just a crutch for shit AI.

Got him on Kerbal Space Program yet? Not sure if the space interest is still strong though!

this far in, 90% of the experience is like the exploration side of witcher 3 the combat is weirdly not that different either.
thanks to the horse you can get out of pretty much any situation in the open world if you're not stupid about it so you can run around finding lots of cool shit and levelling up as much as you want and unlocking quick travel points so it's easier to do stuff when you get the tasks later on until you're overpowered for the story and then the fights are pretty easy.
i did the first big boss on my second try (first time he clubbed me off the cliff edge like he was tiger woods teeing off just as i was going for the final blow) the subsequent castle area was slow as it's a bit trial and error how to properly navigate everything and the respawning enemies makes it a little more arduous trying over and over (which i still put in the pointless artificial difficulty category) but it still managed to be mostly fun. got to the first "main" boss and took about 6 goes but i was pretty close each time.
now I'm powerful enough I can clear most early dungeons on my first go including the boss. where they throw in a gotcha or two which catch me out i'll maybe have to give it a few goes to get it just so. the summons do a lot of heavy lifting but i've also managed quite a few tough fights without them now. the whole dodge window timing and all the animation exploit shit that is necessary to play the game skillfully may as well be arabic to me as i find it incomprehensible and probably dont have the patience to learn (or know where i would pick it up).
I sense there's a brick wall waiting somewhere in the game I'm going to hit and get stuck but this is nothing at all like my experience with dark souls or bloodborne.

Anyone elses GT7 take forever to download?
I've got the disc version, game copied on fine but not I'm stuck playing the music rally game while it downloads something else, getting quite tired of the music already! -

Took about 3 hrs in the end - even in all that time I still couldn't get gold on the 3rd challenge!

That A-9 test! Imagine deciding to make learners do a hairpin test in a car that doesn't turn!
-

Have given up at A-10 until I get the PC wheel working - I'm two tenths off gold with a controller and it's just not happening.

Gold on all National and International licences. Think latest on the Super Licence is a couple of gold and silver, rest bronze.
Despite a few that stood out (A-9 was one) the majority seemed loads easier than they used to be. Have got half a second inside the gold on some.
Wait till you get to S-10, that's a real treat.

A-9 gold was rock solid until I turned off the oversteer assist. Got it on the first try after that!

Got a refund on Elden Ring... did not like. Thought the graphics were poor and that the PC conversion was pretty awful.
Went and purchased Flight Simulator and Cyberpunk 2077 instead.
Flight Simulator because I'd love to learn how to fly a plane, and it is rumoured to be that good.
Cyberpunk 2077 because I have this silly new computer and need something to stress it, and the latest patch apparently makes the game what it should've been.

Details are here: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16425708/
But it looks identical to this: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16401702/It's a custom, with an AMD ryzen 5950X CPU (16 cores, 32 logical cores) on an X570 motherboard, 128GB RAM, and an RTX 3080TI GPU.

It will make you wish for a more powerful computer than the one you've just spent four grand on. Or will when you get VR, which you now must.

I'm enjoying it so much but the bosses (story) are just so freaking hard like I can't even get the timing down, how these people do it without taking any damage is like magic to me.
That being said I'm enjoying just exploring currently and trying to get myself big and strong for whatever lies ahead.
Currently stuck on second boss (dragon hand guy)

My dad has a proper flight sim setup for it and said 'I could probably land the plane if something happened to the pilot'. Referring to a 787. I thought he was joking. He wasn't.

GT7 'career mode' cafe bollocks completed.
Can't help but feel a little short changed there wasn't more to it.

to beat him I got the wolf ashes summon up to +3 and upgraded my weapon (twinblade) to like +12 and used the npc nephila that you can talk to and then summon to help you fight and it was just a case of trial and error just smashing him when his back turned and running away to heal then rinse and repeat until i managed to get the last hit on him before he did some bullshit 10 hit combo on me out of nowhere.
6 minutes would entail about another 3 hours.
