  • been considering these for a while. They get reasonable reviews afaik

  • What’s the current deal with Brexit and imports from EU? Want to order a pair of Officine Creative in from Italy, but don’t want to be caught by import/courier charges etc adding unknown cost?

No UK supplier for a lot of their range, worst luck

  • If you're lucky the italian supplier has their shit together and just bill you import taxes included - this would be in their T&Cs. Officine Creative dont https://www.officinecreative.store/blogs/information/174007943-delivery-services

So looks like 20% Import VAT on value plus possibly a handling charge from the shipper (usually £10-20). BUT the Italian supplier should bill you less 22% Italian VAT so may well end up cheaper than pre brexit. Make sure they deduct the Italian VAT otherwise you'll pay that plus UK VAT.

  • I’ve had a pair of Santalum boots that I bought in Indo 4 years ago. Haven’t worn them often enough tbh but they’re well made. Would recommend.

Also have a pair of oxfords from jalan sriwijaya, as a value for money proposition they’re good too.

  • Amazing! Thanks very much. I’ve asked them about the Italian VAT, so will wait to hear. All a bit of a ball ache compared to how it was before!

  • Used E17 cobblers to get a resolve on a pair of aldens - think @ChasnotRobert recommend him before. Really nice bloke and good job.

  • Any interest in two pairs of loafers before they go on eBay?

Black J.Cheaney Hadley penny loafer in size 10.5 UK - £150. Bought these at a trunk show - worn 5 times and just too small 😑

Trickers brown suede Maine loafer - I think these were also a size 10.5 but Trickers sizing so fit more like 11/11.5 - £100. Bought from factory shop in Northampton, just don’t wear them, again worn maybe 5 times.

I also have a pair of Alden Indy boots - brand new in box size uk 10.5 which I’d do for £450 (£145 off retail).

    1) Design Loake brogues - not sure if model, literally worn once and been in the wardrobe since. £60 posted

    2) Wolverine faux Red Wings - only worn a few times before I got a real pair. Very comfy from first wear. £50 posted.

  • Where are you based?

  • Can any of you experts give me an idea what I might sell these shoes for? Both Church's Custom Grade, the slip-ons ('Salisbury') 6.5F, the lace-ups (made by Church's for Davide Cenci) 6.0G. Pretty nice condition tho obvs used. Unf too snug for me!

  • I went through a phase of buying shoes off eBay, I was paying around £80 for good condition Church's, Crockett and Jones etc.

That was before Prada decided to double the price of new Church's, so maybe a bit more now?

  • maybe here, eBay or try Abbot - https://abbotsshoes.com/

  • Ah thanks, Abbot's a good call. eBay is rather overpopulated with shoes for sale. And the new price of Church's — well, who they sell them to for that sort of money I really don't know —same people as buy a £12K Spesh pushbike perhaps?

  • Church's - I know! I have a pair from about 10-11 years ago and they've literally doubled in price since then, for the same shoe. Beyond absurd.

  • Not proper leather but hoping these fit and fulfil the walking brief

  • Too small :-(

  • I took Tenderloin up on his very kind offer, but sadly after a day of hoping otherwise I need to accept that they're a smidge too big. I'd say a genuine 11, certainly not an aspirational 10.5 like my own feet. Offered back here for free, I'm SE23 or Farringdon most days.

    Cheers

  • Returned the Scarpas for size 45, OutdoorGB did a a decent job on the return and replace process.

The larger size seem bang on; super comfortable so far. I'd say the sizing is no the small side as I'm typically 9.5 UK but with so many different sizing regimes, i guess it's just a lottery.

  • Can someone think of a good, black leather penny loafer with a rubber/Dainite sole. Was thinking Meermin but they don’t have my size (11.5).

  • Herring do some nice ones and G.H Bass do the biggest selection although i don't like mine the vamp is really short. Too much foot not enough shoe for me

  • Yeah those are nice but I can’t see my size 😑
