Yeah I hear you. I don't do Carbon bars, I try to avoid it as much as possible everywhere really. Start higher then you think then work down would be my advice.
Carbon bars are like Ikea furniture, you tighten until you hear a v tiny cracking then you know the bolt is secure and you move on to the next one
The main benefit there being that you know where your carbon bars will break
