Thanks

That's definitely the neatest solution. Who wants my Money!

Beholded. And appreciated... presumably sits underneath the crown race? Details/supplier link would be excellent if you have them!
-

Yeah, goes under the crown race.
Those two were pull-offs from older R&Ms that have been sitting in the bottom of my toolbox for ages. There's no branding on them. Not sure who makes them, but I'm going to email R&M and see if they can give me a name.

I think they'd be a good seller (to a few internet bike dorks) if they were available!

Is dynamo light theft common place?
I recently fitted some to my bike. What are the chances they'll get nicked if I leave my bike locked in central for few hours?
-
• #4160
No one answer this in case we jinx it!
-

Given I know people who've had a £9 bottle cage unscrewed and nicked, yes I imagine someone will notice your dynamo rig and have away with it at some point, including the front wheel.
[You might be lucky though]

Does anyone have any smart ideas on how to fit a dynamo light to a suspension fork?
Setup is currently B&M IQ-X so can be mounted upside down, but would love to keep it around the crown rather than off the bars.

Star nut up the bottom of the steerer tube, to enable a longish bracket to be held in there?
-
• #4164
Heard back and the crown-race light mounts are designed by R&M. Part number is VBK0020

• #4165
That is great service from R&M and from you, thank you!
-
• #4166
Oh good idea! Will have to work out how to keep it straight without the guide part of the tool but will give it a go!

R&M being Riese and Muller?

• #4168
Yeh

• #4169
Super. There's an R&M dealer near work I think for me so I'll send them an email.

Having done some more thinking, I may have come up with a 'solution' to the suspension fork light issue...
Smallest King Cage USB, some Gorilla tape for padding, round the fork bridge and then use the standard B&M mount. Gets round the issue of cabling around the suspension travel but no idea how well hose clamps work on non-round fixtures. Terrible idea?

Those King things are fairly sturdy. I don't know how well they'd match the profile of the arch. Maybe a strip of steel or a smaller P-clip might smush round it better.
You could drill it too. Check photo 3/4 of the way down here and explanation in comments https://gypsybytrade.wordpress.com/2014/08/04/across-slovakia-up-high/

I'm looking to get a cheap 'n' cheerful dynamo on my commuter/town biek.
Any suggestions for hubs and lights? Don't need to go IQX/S&P for this, just something to keep me rolling on the commute.

Is that for rim or disc brakes?
-
• #4174
Good point, rim preferred but I don't mind an empty bolt hub/centerlock hanging around if the price is right.

Have a silver SP PV-8 hub laced to black Kinlin XR-22t. Can find photos this afternoon if you're interested. £100 posted in the UK.
Is the Supernova E3 the one that supplies a DC out to the tail-light? i.e. it'll only work with Supernova tail-lights?
Also can it be mounted upside down?
