I’d be surprised if he’s not dual citizen. FWIW
He is. Was born in Italy but grew up in France and has dual French/Russian citizenship.

He's started a bit sooner than many but good to see the tradition of riders on the wane saying 'it wasn't like this back in my day'. Not noticed many of these young disrespectful riders miming groping a woman on a podium though.

Siv said a few years ago that he was didnt want to go as French due to the amount of pressure a French cyclist gets due to the Tour.
I feel the punishment should be based on the source of the funding rather than somone that has a loose connection to the country itself. Well unless of course they are a supporter of the invasion then in the sea with them.

Ineos are a vile company so...
Interesting to see Look has gone public and withdrawn their sponsorship and support of Rusvelo.
I wonder when Merida, Colnago and Factor will do the same with their dodgy-regime-funded teams. -

The only way is a blanket ban though... nobody is a doper until they are caught doping. If you ask the "man in the street", Wiggins and Froome are dopers. You have to draw a line, the clear line is where your license or passport is from.

Monster ride from Trentin at Le Samyn. Seemed to do most of the work and then won the sprint.

Are Ineos violently invading a country?

No pay so far this year for Astana riders.
Fancy having to do that rap for free?!

UCI have banned Russian trade teams and events though riders themselves are not sanctioned. Zakarin won’t be falling off his bike for Gazprom Rusvelo.
-

Also said they'd allow riders with dual nationality to switch as quickly as possible.

Look have pulled their bikes from RusVelo.

I wonder if Sivakov is finally going to switch to a French license then. He chose a Russian one as a youth because he didn't think he would be selected on the French team, then kept it because he didn't want to lose out on Tokyo. If the IOC change their 3 years' rule too it might just give him the motivation to do it.

Why are UCI presidents always so shit?

Wow. That is extraordinary even in a world of double-speak.

Lappartient owes his UCI presidency to Igor Markov. He won’t bite the hand that feeds him.
Anyway, now he’s got his place on the IOC, he’ll be less involved in cycling. We hope.
-
• #38247
But the UCI will always be shit because structural reform is all but impossible as none of the national federations are prepared to give up their positions of influence.

TotalEnergies pretending Alexandre Geniez hasn’t been convicted of hitting his wife.

Surely given he stated he'd be retiring at the end of the year, Total can get rid of him now
But that's how we ended up with ROC competing in the Olympics and everyone just called them Russia and they doped anyway. Sadly there will be athletes that suffer because of it (though I'm sure other countries would welcome them if they were so strongly against the Russian regime that they would move on), but a line has to be drawn - there's been too much mealy mouthed prevarication in world sport. We sponsor Bora so it would impact that with Vlasov not being able to ride and he's in good form, but ethics more important IMO (personal rather than business view obvs).
