In. It gives you a more continuous cushioning layer when wrapped around corners/projections. I think I learned this while packaging crockery in some temp job decades ago.

Thanks, this is the kind of real world expertise that @si_mon628 and I are after

Does anyone know if you can merge photos in Lightroom Mobile? Can't seem to find an option like on desktop.

Where did I get this vegetable peeler? I’ve had it for years and it’s the best one I’ve used. Just broke it (the blue now rotates all the way round rather than being limited) and I’d like to find another one.
(Shit photo is shit)

Looks like an IKEA 365 one I think
-

Ah, very possibly. Guess it’s not one they’ve sold for a while as I can’t find any on the World Wide Web now.

Why has the petrol price at the pump gone up? Surely the stuff there was extracted, shipped, refined weeks if not months ago?
-
• #111784
Is it steel? Does it need to move a bit, not be fixed in one position? The fixer in me is wondering if you could take it to a garage/bike shop/your friendly welder and get the blade spot welded into position for about 5 seconds work, but that won't work if it still needs mobility.

Oil companies aren't going to cover the increase, what would happen to their profits?

But using money they took from sales at the time. The money you're paying for petrol now has to buy fresh feedstock at today's oil price to service your needs in the summer. As a going concern, the price you need to realise for your sales is not the cost you incurred to produce the ready stock, but the current cost of replenishing the stock.

It’s supposed to have a limited range of rotation - about 45 degrees. At the moment, whatever was limiting the movement is no more and it just rotates freely. But I think the essence of what you’re saying is true and I should at least attempt to take it apart and see if I can fix it - if only for the sake of curiosity.

Is there a consensus on compatibility between 11 speed SRAM chainsets and Shimano (Ultegra Di2) mechs?
Been running them together for a couple of years with no apparent issues, but considering a new chainset and wonder if a Shimano one would noticeably improve things. Main objection to the Shimano chainset is the aesthetics, but I could get over that if necessary.

What is the cheapest form of a "surface plate" or similar very flat surface for machining, engineering, etc sort of projects (ideally fairly big - maybe 24" x 36"?). I'd probably be happy with some localised damage or deformation, and material isn't super important (interested in any input on relative benefits of steel/stone/phenolic board? - not sure what other options there are?).
I am finding small used surface plates on ebay around £100 but wondering if I'd find something cheaper with a different search? -

Depends how much precision you need, but in days past, glass was used as a cheap alternative.
something like 10mm thick or more

Always involve your insurance for a tiny bump? Likely couple of hundred quid for a bumper respray and not at fault

Some kitchen top offcut of granite?

kitchen top offcut of granite
I wondered about that, but you not only have no idea how flat it is, its is also much thinner than a surface plate so it will sag under its own weight, and any instrument load you put on it. A 900mm×600mm surface plate is 100mm thick, which makes it (100/30)3=37 times stiffer than a 30mm thick worktop.

At what point do people need to start prepper shopping in case nukes are deployed?
And what should be bought?
-
• #111795
You’re not already prepared? Ah.

Russia has approx 5000 plutonium bombs, enough for every town in the uk and more
probably best not to survive

Probably also unlikely in that case…

I half expect Putin just to use one as a shot across the bows warning.

Any Italian speakers on here? I need a translation of "please send me an invoice" where it is explicitly clear that I am asking for an invoice and not a receipt.
No idea but here's my internet opinion...facing inwards to the wrapped object might be better as the bubbles might be more likely to move/deform slightly in reaction to an impact, a bit like a MIPS helmet, instead of being more likely to burst if they are facing outwards? But I am not a bubble wrap specialist, so happy to be educated on this.
