I've polished frets using fine wire wool, then hitting them with Autosol metal polish. However, you need to make sure that the whole fretboard is taped off so you don't get any of that on the wood.

I have a set of those and they're pretty good. I wish they'd made the colours more distinct though - it's nigh impossible to know the right order to work through. They're good for removing scratches in FitBit screens as well. But they do clog up and they're a bit pricey once you've imported them. Really fine sandpaper with cloth backing would probably do the same for a few quid.

I was wondering about wet&dry paper or scotchbrite. Alternatively I wonder if Scalextric/Model Railway track rubbers might be up to the job, or even one of those dual compound pencil/ink erasers.

+1 for the Crimson fret rubbers. You can follow them up with a Dremel fitted with a buffing wheel to get a mirror shine, but not 100% necessary.

Had my first lesson with a new teacher this morning. Pretty pleased with how things went. She hardly played (only to demonstrate what I needed to do) and concentrated on what I could and could not do. A few technical tips to improve chord tone and a suggestion to use a thicker pick (I was still using the super thin pick recommended by Justin Sandercoe). Left with the A shape bar chord to practice along with changing between the A shape and E shape bar chord (bar stays in the same fret) as well as moving the E shape bar chord up and down the fret from F to G.
Next time (2 weeks) looks like working on strumming with more confidence and a look at improvising using Am pentatonic... -

The Junior Jets basses are gorgeous. Been after one for a while. New line just in, including a lovely “shell pink”

In other cheap and very cheerful bass news, I just picked this up from a classified ad in Margate. Sounding sweet with flat wounds and plays great too. Very happy with it as an occasional recording tool to replace the old Squier Jazz.

Warwick AL Bootsy Collins Spacebass,
not sure I'll find a stand nor bag for it..

Heh! Sweet.
Yeah it’s an Epi. £180 from a classified ad. Does look and feel like it’s posher than the price

Owned this for just over 2 weeks and decided I didn't get on with it, and therefore can't return it because I waited too long. As new condition, all stuff still in the box. Looking for £175. I can post at cost or meet in London. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/mxr-m306-poly-blue-octave-pedal/951188?gclid=Cj0KCQiAybaRBhDtARIsAIEG3kldhZWP6mLGhiBxTiBRpTJKbDbDHXulXrnID7ssepBW7HvU8AQhWUMaAlphEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Guitar auction of various bits and pieces...
Including a '59 (lot 77) and a bunch of other old Gibson's...
Fret rubbers look pretty simple to use. Crimson guitars do a set of you want to save yourself some import tax from stewmac.

There are loads of cheaper versions available on eBay but I’m not sure on the quality.
