I've been looking into importing from Japan... not expensive enough to have entirely put me off the idea just yet.
-
• #19753
Any calculations?
-

Probably the best part of €5,000 to Ireland but a Super Cub is €4,500 new here so not the worst... cheaper if you could justify buying more than one to sell on

Filling a container?

Where can you window shop for bikes in Japan?
-
• #19757
Whitstable has a good fish & chip shop … and you could have some whelks as a starter
-
• #19758
Great fish from the stalls, but are the chips cooked in dripping ;)

Ducati, back at the Isle of Man TT for 2022 with Michael Dunlop. Don't think we've mentioned either TT 2022 will have live broadcast stream for the first time too, looks very reasonable at £15.

Thats class

That’s big news. Can’t see anyone beating Peter Hickman at the moment but will be good to watch.

Really interested to see how he goes on the Ducati, his 2016 win on the BMW was one of the best sporting moments I can remember. Not sure on that Gas Monkey livery though.

Not a gas monkey fan but it's a cool looking bike.

Which trial did you ride, where are you based? AMCA or ACU as well?
Did I read you got a Scorpa Easy. Was it the blue and white one for sale in the Midlands? -
• #19765
Wiltshire, it was a local club trial and ACU.
The Scorpa easy was bought locally and an absolute wreck on closer inspection. Parting out the engine now while I plan what to use the rolling chassis for.
Got quotes from QS for their EV motor, need to find someone who can make a battery from 18650’s for me.

Good job I can’t afford another bike right now!

If I had there cash at the moment to bring in a container load I absolutely would, can't imagine there would be any trouble in shifting them and I'd love one for myself but sadly not a runner at the moment for me...
-

Saw the BVM logo on the board and thought you were that way. I ride Midlands AMCA.
Is the Scorpa worth the hassle of the conversion? They were never that good, Jarvis just made them look good BITD. A mate bought a climber a couple of years ago expecting it to be amazing but it just wasn't any good really. I would just get a twinshock if you want quirky bike to fettle and ride.

Yea BVM is the nearest dealer, and even they are a drive away.
To be honest it was a stupid idea the £500 it cost me. I didn’t realise til later the amount of work the engine needed. Had it been £200-300 in parts then all good for £800 a beater bike for friends to join me.
Unfortunately already £100 in parts later I find it’s not viable to rebuild. Gonna cost over a grand in parts alone, to make it serviceable. My mistake, live and learn.
If I make back maybe £100-300 of the parts over time, and I’m left with a rolling chassis… that chassis is as good as any to use for an EV.
Of course I’d prefer a modern factory-built EV, but I can’t afford one.

Hard to get bits for easily as they didn't make many and used a lot of proprietary bits. It was before they embraced the likes of Yamaha. Although I'm sure people are desperate for spares. Especially stuff like plastics. You will see your money back that way I'm sure.
A EV would be cool to try but what you have is a great bike. I doubt you would see any difference riding wise compared to something like an EM. -
• #19772
Agreed. I am hoping that all the serviceable parts can be sold to people who need them. Only one or two sellers on ebay have parts. Maybe I can fill the gap and provide useful bits.
As far as the why, it’s actually because there are lots of little spots near me, within a 15 minute cycle ride, that are great to practice trials.
Unfortunately these spots are also populous enough that the Sherco would get too much attention.
I’m after the EV trials bike purely for messing about and practicing in places that are only possible if I’m quiet. EV is near-silent so I wouldn’t attract any attention.

Got you.

So many of us similar age. I guess the 2008-12 vintage road/fixie/TT/SS craze brought a lot of us and typically would be same age group. Interesting!
I'm 35 and I...
Yes like go fast bikes
But I live in Scotland, and spend more time on the bike wishing for more weather protection.Borrowed a mates 675 Triumph (daytona? It was yellow), enjoyed the hell out of it, for 45 minutes. Good riding position for me, but in 8c + wind + very mild rain even wearing well over a grand of gear = miserable. And 8c is good going for at least half of the year! So yeah something fun for those 20c+ days absolutely, but the rest of the year I need a windscreen and a heated as much as possible.
Bmw Rxxxx and with some fairing's, but not those that a retired cop would ride (RT?). I'm not that old lol.
Saying that, mate is an instructor, in Scotland, and he goes out no matter what (unless its wet ice, then maybe not, need SOME of the students to not deck it so that they keep coming back for more lessons). Bought a newer BMW R1200/1250? RT, full fairing, full everything, basically a Goldwing. Most unreliable bike he's ever had. So he sold it for parts. Bought another one, thinking he was just unlucky, another of the same type (2012-16?), all the same problems again. Now bought a much older on (2000 to 2005) , and apart from immediately removing the ABS module/pump block (?) its been a boss. He spends more time on the road than he does being asleep/alive/generally being so reliability and comfort > all other things.
Oh he did get a Honda shaft drive for a bit (deauville?) at 12 years old it was basically one huge rust scab, frame had previous crash damage and badly repaired, or it was never rust protected from factory? Think gearbox was also weak on that one. -

Seeing quite a few sur-ron high power e bikes scrambler type things around.
Very quick and most are not road registered, only a matter of time before the police have a purge, and it'll be a expensive one they are several grand a piece.
I feel we need a forum motorbike run to the coast for chips on a sea wall.
