Alaphilippe and Roglic riding side by side the first time they passed us, and still together the second lap, finished 25th and 26th.

Vollering did everything wrong in the final kilometre though. Not that that diminishes Van Vleuten's win, but why sit on for 13 kms only to give a 150 metre turn in the final 700 metres and put yourself in the worst possible position for a sprint? I assume her distress after the finish was because she knew she'd messed it up.

I feel for the individuals, but the shambles that was the winter Olympics has shown that letting Russians compete under a non-affiliated 'team' doesn't work. There should be an absolute and complete ban of all Russian competitors, team and sponsors in all sports as long as the invasion of Ukraine continues. IMO.
