  • oh the irony
    well in the reds

  • Good thing is that might be the end of that tactic.

  • Great pens. I guess you can't be offside for those at least.

  • last pen was first time Kepa kicked the ball all match, no wonder it went into orbit

  • Not entirely convinced by Klopp's tactical masterstroke of relying on Chelsea's inability to hit a cow's arse with a banjo and/or remain onside, but a win's a win.

  • You can always breath a sigh of relief when you see Werner & Lukaku coming on.

  • Liverpool were cr4p all day but i think justice was done due to ukraine - also hilarious that chelski brought on their penalty expert who missed. I guess the klitschko brothers werent rooting for the russian team - happy day

  • i think justice was done due to ukraine

Probably the most ludicrous thing said among many ludicrous things ever said in this thread. Congratulations

  • Third time this season we have been denied a win against Liverpool by poor refereeing. It is almost as though a pattern is developing.

  • A pattern showing your failure to stay onside?

  • Also interesting to note that it was the Ukrainian government who brought in Abramovich to act as a conduit for peace negotiations. Makes a lot of what has been said by ever so pious people about his failure to speak out a tad redundant.

  • Chebolah was on side when he was fouled. The should have been red card in the game at Stamford bridge was not in an off side position. Reece James was not off side at Anfield.

Oh and Lukaku wasn't off side yesterday but as you were.

  • sore loser?

Deserved to lose after the actions of Kepa before each penalty trying to psyche out every penalty taker

  • i will give it to you that Chelsea were offside on many occasions. This didn't look like one of them. Was given roughly 3 seconds screen time and then forgotten about.

  • I liked Mason Mount's new hair, but I think Alonso still pips it.

  • Chalobah needed 6 stitches after this challenge. The advantage was given to Liverpool.

I don't subscribe to any anti-Chelsea or pro-Liverpool bias on the part of the officials but the use of VAR was poor.

It was a great match, especially for a 0-0 and both sides played really well. Really happy with how Chelsea played, we looked much livelier than many of our league games where we seem to wander through them half-asleep.

Penalties are a lottery. Would have been nice to win but I will get over it.

  • yes, that looked really clumsy - I was surprised he didn't get a red for that.

  • That foul on Chalobah looked like a clear red to me

However the supposed "blocking" by van Dijk for the Matip goal was borderline at best, happens at every corner / free kick and never given.

Seems that VAR is always looking for the slightest reason to disallow goals, I hate it,

  • VAR is pish

  • haha, sometime last season my wife said "Alonso's hair, he's like a god" (referring to marble statues of Greek gods).

He does have a fine head of hair. All of Mason's hairstyle's look shite to me but then again I am a man in my 50's so what do I know about what the kids want.

  • "Alonso's hair, he's like a god" (referring to marble statues of Greek gods)

    that is true

  • @cliveo you are having a nightmare in here.

Even after all these years, Chelsea fans still can't find it in themselves to see Abramovich for who he is, let alone acknowledge it.

  • It wasn’t that the blocking was considered a foul though, it was that he was blocking while in an offside position.

  • Yeah that one was just silly, the foot positioning is a give away there. I didn't agree with the Van Dijk one either. I don't know why they can't seem to get VAR right, seems to work ok in most other sports.

I thought the game in general was really good though & was a pretty fair 50/50 battle with each team having their time on top. The standard they were playing at, I think either team would have won by a decent goal tally against any other team in the county except City, just unlucky they were playing each other.

Chelsea have got most of the squad sorted but whilst I like Lukaku, he's not the kind of striker to fit Chelsea's current style. And Werner is just hopeless.

Liverpool - why were we so slow at the start of both halves? Poor warm-up or something?
