  • Anyone ever patched up an actually ancient Velux window?
Its a 'GGL-8' from defo before 1991. Guy at Velux said its the oldest one anyone has rung about this year, so I guess I get a prize.

Photos not of actual window, can't get to outside with 4 stories of scaff. Leaks in through the handle/vent as the 1) top casing cover plate is full on missing, been blown away some years ago and been steadily leaking ever since. If the wind is in the wrong direction is like someone pouring from a bucket, rest of time its very small amount.

Anyone repaired these? Or shall I just get the local roof guy to do a pro lead work job and totally cover the area thats mean't to be covered by this part. Rest of window is 100% fine and does its job nicely.

  • I can see your problem right there m8, your roof's made of QuickStep laminate flooring with cardboard flashing.

  • Think have the same window here. DM me a number and I can send photos of the windows here.

Got a bit of knowledge from fixing leaks caused by missing trim on the side. Luckily the trim was in the gutter. All the screws had rusted tho.

  • I think what you’ve got there is an old version of a UK08.
I doubt the UK08 flashings will fit on an old ‘8’.
Worst case you could do a straight swap for the whole window.
