Guessing access will depend on who's sat at the end of the closure and if/when they actually start work on the road. Looks like a few people have made it through e.g. https://twitter.com/100Climbs/status/1497189589500317700
Worth noting it's from Ladybower > Glossop. I guess this will mean more traffic on Woodhead and also through Hope/Castleton/Rushup Edge? (maybe a question for the Peak District thread...)

Just did a tester ride in the hills on the pompino, about half the elevation of next week's route. Simultaneously excited and wondering what on earth we're doing.
-
• #79
I feel exactly the same! You've perfectly summed up the ride.
-
• #80
Tester ride? I haven't even got a bike sorted for this. Shit.
-
• #81
Haha woops! Dya need anything?

Snake pass was closed today . Traffic free.

Not only would I not be fit enough, but alas I won’t even be around to do this little hop over from Stockport :(
2023 - Might be fitter then.

I tested positive for covid on Monday, been in bed since. At least the cough is going away but not sure how strong I'll be by Saturday. There looks to be plenty bail points to cut the ride short, so best case scenario I'll be trying at least some of it. Or I might even just enjoy your coffee start and beer end company only, and happily pootle round the sites of Sheffield (have already scoped out the many places of interest). Double vaxxed and boosted, wasn't expecting to feel this rough for this long.

The magical extra weekend I'm sure we had in February! Might just skip it again this year, realise I'm at a gig Friday night too. I should buy a calendar.
-
• #86
Fwiw I'm headed to the gig too...
-
• #87
Ah man that's shit! You feeling any better? I was vaxx, waxxed and boosted to the max but Corona still knocked me out for about 3/4 days and then I had a killer headache for another 4 days. If you're up to it though it'd be great to see you!
Where should we meet in the morning? There is a Greggs on Fargate street which would be my vote.
Any pub recommendations for the finish? Suppose I can dump a dlock and cable up somewhere to come back to at the end. Close to the station would be good

pub recommendations for the finish? ... Close to the station
Rutland Arms

Hope you all have a great ride. I've been lurking but this falls on birthday weekend so I cannot make it along. Might get a short run in the nearby hills instead.

I’ll leave a lock at the station as well.
Are we aiming for a 9-9:30 start? A friend might join us at Hathersage so I’ll pass on a rough ETA.
Sheffield Tap is always good.

Our 7.02 gets in at 9 so a 9:30 start from Greggs works. @falconvitesse will be there earlier, not sure who else is coming and where they are coming from, but it would be good to not roll out much later if possible?

I've also removed a few tiny misroutings off road
Disapproval ensues

Arriving at 9:09 from Manchester. Greggs start works. Probably going to be on the least sensible bike.
-
• #95
Neutrino?
-
• #96
That would be the least work to get ready and is the current fallback option. I don't know how well it'd keep up with others though.

Positive LFT for me tonight, getting pcr tomorrow but most likely not riding. I remember nearly not riding in 2020 due this weird ominous new virus ha.

The tap room at the station used to be good too. Just to the left of the main building. I’ve missed many trains home sat in there

There's 3 Gregg's in Sheffield centre- which one are we meeting at 9.30 for?
Am (perpetually) worried about the weather...

The one on Fargate street, a pedestrianised street just off the route
You could search the Strava segment and see if anyone has ridden it today. I don’t pay for Premium so can’t see.
I suspect they’ll put up site fencing to make it difficult.
