  • I think there’s two main reasons for not using a phone as an alarm clock - one is the blue light / emission thing that CB mentioned above disrupting sleep cycles (I’m a bit cynical about that but I am not a scientist so am prepared to believe it) and the other is that if the phone is nearby it encourages last minute from scrolling/phone use (and I deffo do that) which also affects mental health.

    The idea of an alarm clock is that you leave the phone in a different room so you can’t interact with it before you go to sleep/when you wake up.

    @kjlem it is small and lume does not look particular amazing (it does have a backlight) but hopefully loud - I’m a super heavy sleeper! I’m weird and sleep with a watch on so I usually just look at my wrist in the night of o need to know the time. In actually away this weekend but will report once I’ve used it. It was £20, so my expectations are set accordingly:)

  • Yeah that all might be true, but my phone does this amazing daylight/brightening alarm.
    Pretty sure that cancels out all negative effects doom scrolling until eyes shut has!
