Purchased a 1993 Spez. Hardrock Ultra from a nice chap on the forum this morning. Cheers @acd, was good to meet you.
Frame paint is scratched here and there but given its almost 30 years old, it looks great, and is in great condition. Apparently, the frame is originally from Cosmic Cycles in Flagstaff, Arizona, made its way over to London, and has had a few owners, before ending up in Edinburgh with @acd, and now myself.
I've only adjusted angles of seat and stem so far, but I'm looking to use it as an all-rounder, commuter.
Current components look good, but I'm thinking of going with an old frame with modern components. I'm used to a single chainring upfront on my computer, so I'll probably swap over to that.
I used to love all the fluorescent components on bikes when I was a kid, but I think that it'll be too pricey and difficult to source 90s MTB components.
Open to suggestions for components. I seen a few pages back that someone had a set of reddish/pink "v-brakes", that I think would look great. If anyone knows what they are let me know.
My cat has made a cameo.
Been stripping down my MTB and was just thinking of this yesterday! Bloody frame is getting more traveling done than me haha! Minor regret letting that one go, lovely paint job.
