• if you message the seller/leave a negative review on the aliexpress site you may get a full refund tbh. worth a go

  • I'll see what I can do with it first but I did try and cancel the order with eBay just 10 hours after buying it as onyerbike offered me his old one and was told i couldn't cancel it as the order had already been processed. I'd have to wait it to arrive then pay for return postage plus a 10% re stocking charge. I hate admin if it was £150 I'd probably chase it. Based on the comms I've had with the seller i think I'll struggle with a refund and i don't want to risk a replacement.
EDIT:just had a play with it and there's a fair bit of lateral play in the upper jockey wheel coming from the bearing so can't be tightened out.
ANOTHER EDIT: Been Googling an abit of play in the top Jockey seems acceptable. How much a bit is? I'll just get it on and see how it shifts and repot back.

  • if its ebay just leave negative feedback. you will get some sort of resolution from that. ebay is so biased to buyers

  • To stiffen it perhaps you could trying glueing some carbon fibre sheet on it? https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/high-strength-carbon-fibre-sheet If I wasn't so behind on my Absurd Tourer project I'd probably have an offcut to give you.

  • Cheers i might be able to make a metal screw in brace plate and fix that to the inside to help resist the twist. Just realised your the bonkers WW tourer guy. That looks mental.

  • Replace the bearings, replace the plates and pulleys with FibreLyte ones which are nicely made and thick enough to work properly. Make it work whatever the expense! (or just use the stock parts which are fine)

  • Thanks yes stock parts were totally fine i have this compulsion to constantly tit about with stuff that really doesn't need it. I'll get the bearings you recommend up thread first and check out Fibrelytes replacement parts. Thanks for the links for those. I had no idea they made small parts I've had a couple of their chainrings in the past and they are really well made unlike my Aerocoach rings I'm running at the moment. Should have stuck with the Fibrelytes but the chainrings were yet another one of my totally unnecessary spontaneous purchases.

  • Just found this which is a different manufacturer to mine and looks better made despite being about 1/3 cheaper these look like the UT branded ones. Mine is branded J&L but i think his points apply to most of these ali/ebay versions

  • Spot on yeah i thought he was a bit extra

  • Really impressed by the quality!

Got to get a road bike built up and give them a go

  • Those look ace a perfect match 👌 I've always lusted after a Quantum pro in one of their trademark flamboyant fades

  • Thanks! It’s my 4th quantum - I’ve always been after this colourway!

  • @BlackMath and @Samo_S Did you order from this seller? I’ve been waiting a couple of weeks with no shipping update…

  • Not me I’m afraid.

It took a month for these to arrive!

  • Are there any disc wheels/rims worth looking at beyond Lightbicycle if I want 55mm deep and something 28mm wide (or wider)?

How good is the build quality of the LB wheels in terms of tension etc? I assume on a par with any factory churning out carbon wheels.

I’m just weighing them up versus a set of Scribes.

  • Cheers. I just received an update from the seller saying posted today so let’s see! Looking forwards to seeing the rest of the Klein BTW

  • Why not just get the biggest pulleys you can jam in the stock cage.

That's 12/14t there... Fit in 10s Red cage with no modification, but had to hack the pins on the 9070. Gives some improvement and looks way better than the goofy and expensive aftermarket cages IMO.

Found the pulleys on eBay, IIRC... These ones are narrow/wide. Resin is the go, ally ones are noisy.

Part of why I reckon it looks better than stock is the extra clearance has been fettled away; the pulleys barely miss each other.

  • Yep, I bought from them as well. Took them a couple weeks to send the package out and then another 2 weeks for it to arrive.

  • I really rate my Venns so far I've got the 35mm on my commuter and the 77mm on my aero bike. Tubeless, filament wound construction. The 507 is 28mm external and comes with their own Aero data. I get all of mine from DCR wheels with Cxrays but Venn are always offering discounts on builds on their own website with slightly cheaper pilar spokes and Bitex, Venn and Dt hub options. I can post a pic of mine later if you want to check out the finish? The rims are available separately but rarely discounted as heavily. I'm a member so I'll see if I can find any extra discount codes

  • With hindsight i probably should have just changed the jockeys for some nice ceramic ones. Even the Token hybrid ones i had before on another bike seemed like a decent improvement on the stock ultegra wheels. I was just cleaning up my 7 year old Record rear derailleur yesterday for another build which has a stiff carbon cage and the ceramic bearings are still spinning 90% like new now. I only ended up ordering this one as it popped up on my suggestions and i thought it would look good on my carbon everything Tri bike and its pretty much the only part i haven't fiddled with on it yet. It wasn't mega expensive but still more than nice new jockeys. I thought it should save a watt or 2 if I'm lucky as well. I'm hoping to get it on today and give it a spin then I'll review my options.
