  • I have all the trigger point things.

Roller, quad baller, single ball, double ball.

    And two Mirafit lacrosse balls.

I get most use from the lacrosse balls & double ball.

  • Parliament Hill XC is going to be live on YouTube
    https://youtu.be/o2aBmp88bzg

  • A few hours a day for a few months... I don't deserve nice things.

  • Went out for first run since the big one on Sunday - legs are feeling better, just have a slightly clickier ankle than before.

Was intending an easy one but ended up doing a 20min 5k. Heart rate was definitely a bit higher than usual but that’s to be expected. Just felt really good to get the legs moving quickly for some reason.

Have also been doing kettlebell swings and squats every night to keep the posterior chain strong while the mileage takes a break.

  • Chapeau. I’m still hobbling around feeling sorry for myself.

  • Honestly, that’s the most sensible thing to do. Even though it felt good, I’m probably asking to get injured doing that.

  • I'm pacing 45 mins at the Kew 10k in April. Anyone 'on here' doing it or the half?

Edit - tell a lie, I'll be in Scotland on holiday

  • Afternoon all. Does anyone have any recommendations for running trainers (mostly park paths but some grass) for a heavier beginner runner? I'm on week six of couch to 5k and not struggling hugely but I suspect some slightly better trainers might help.

I'm not enormous - 100kg - but I'm 45 and very nervous about busting my knees. Currently wearing Nike Run Swift v2.0s which I like but they're apparently designed for short run, and I'll be honest, I'd be much happier if they didn't look like special trainers.

  • I doubt that this is the best value solution but I can 100% vouch for Gel Kayanos for heavier runners. Cushioned as fuck. Did the job when I was at 110kg.

That said, Asics have been making their recent GKs look like granny trainers, so might not be your cup of tea if you give a toss about what they look like.

  • I've just picked up a Garmin Fenix 6x Solar bargain due to a small mark on the screen. First impressions are is there anything this doesn't do? Anyone here got any experience using one? Top tips?

  • I'll be honest, they look a lot nicer than what I'm currently wearing and if I can worry less about my knees while wearing them to boot, I'll be happy. Appreciate the heads up

  • Kayanos are a good shout and also the Nimbus. Overbuilt really cushioned and durable. Last seasons colours on both can often be picked up 30-40% off in the sales as well

  • Does anyone have a S&C routine that they like for running? Preferably all doable at home with limited equipment.

I've got a Body Boss resistance band set up as well and you can do very effective resistance conditioning workouts on that. Its cheap packs down small and I was surprised how good it is.

  • Thanks

  • I used to favour Adidas ultraboost (I hover between 90-95kg) .. very cushioned and the only shoes that went easy on my knees/calves etc.

Not much in the way of stability however.. seemed happier in a straight line.

Plus they’re all stupid expensive now because fashion

  • I know I said I was done for the year, but....

  • Did you edit this at some point, or did I imagine it?

  • Good luck to anyone running Parliament Hill tomorrow 👏

  • Which post? I might have added more info or corrected a tipo
    :EDIT typo

  • Nike Invincible Run and super cushy, definitely easy on your legs

  • i am 100kg (198cm tall) and use adidas solar glide - very comfortable for me, up to 10km distances

  • Parliament Hill XC was superb today. Very muddy and tough course but perfect weather with beautiful sunshine and a little wind.

  • Well, that went better than expected…

Wokingham half marathon today, felt like 1:27 shape so went out aiming to get there, but got tucked in behind a group and went through 10k in 40:20 feeling great to kept pushing, ended up with 1:24:20 official time!

1:10 away from a half pb, but didn’t really feel like I had any right to run that fast off recent training so very pleased!
