  • Fantastic. I’ve only promised not to sell a speedy twice. And it was “the old one”. Both gone.

@punkture I’m delighted you’re happy with it, absolute class.

@Retro_Bastard the next 2-3 weeks will be tough. Stay strong 😂

    What else did I miss?

Oh, customary watch pic… taken yesterday

  • The more you post this the more I like it.

  • That's superb. I love the restrained German design language. Would it be correct to describe it as Bauhaus? We don't see nearly enough of it on today's watches. There's so much glitz.

  • How deep does it sit off the wrist? - the version of this with the 12h gmt subdial is on my want list

  • I’m not sure. It looks great and @Regal said it works, so… 😂

@smithchild it is/feels a lot smaller than the dimensions indicate. Even on a nato it doesn’t feel too tall.

  • Sinn and Damasko are primarily purpose-driven (utilitarian) brands. The Bauhaus stalwarts are Nomos and Stowa. Although you could argue most of Germany was driven by value, engineering, and design after WW1. Bauhaus 'now' is not bauhaus 'then', etc.

  • Special mention to Junghans and their Max Bill brand.

  • The AT Ultra Light raised a lot of eyebrows with that price when it was unveiled. It's a bit of an odd piece from Omega, especially given that it's not actually all that light in the scheme of ultra light watches, thought it is radically different from a conventional AT. Looked a bit like an attempt to create a cut price Richard Mille for the sports set. Doubt they've sold many.

  • So does anyone want this @£3250 before it goes to the eBay ? Comes with both bracelet and rubber strap and all the bits n bobs .

  • As im not very good with numbers, can someone explain the fees behind buying a watch at auction?

Many state there is a Free Registration: 30% and then a Flat Fee Registration: 26.4%. It then states these include internet surcharges and buyers premium.

So does that mean, if you purchased a watch at £800, you'd add 30% on to that value, which is £1040, then you'd also add 26.4% to £800, which is £211 and combine that all together to reach a total of £1251??

  • Possibly with VAT too

  • Sorry, the two percentages I mentioned above did say inclusive of VAT.

  • I am not too familiar with auctions, but have looked into some elsewhere and buyers premium is usually around 30% of the sale price, plus VAT.

There is usually a sellers premium too, so the auction house gets a cut from both sides.

Not heard of 2 premiums to the same buyer though, but I am not experienced enough to say whether you are right or not.

Edit: online premiums are usually around 1% as one fee and then 20-30% on the hammer price as well.
And then VAT on top for everything.

    E.G. hammer price of £800
    (maybe 20% VAT - £160)
    1% online premium - £8
    (VAT - £1.60)
    25% buyers premium - £200
    (VAT - £40)

    Total - £1209.60

  • Traditional (i.e. non eBay) auctions are weird.

  • Metal G shock square ordered. And I’ve since been down an enjoyable rabbit hole reading about the MR G line. Rumoured MR G square looks good but 4K 🥊

  • Thanks very much. Seems like most things these days were you pay a fee for everything.

  • Never heard of Damasko, but they look right up my street, thank you.

  • I should have 3 different ones soon for a friend. Will post pictures 👍

  • Auctions can also be ‘sold as seen’ so if it’s an online and offline auction it’s worth checking.

I know this after I bought a moody diamond at auction and had to go through a ton of hassle to get the money back!

  • What a banger. I'm after the 7a28-7030 (pogue-style).

  • My GA-2100SKE-7AER isn't floating my boat unfortunately. If anyone would like it i'd let it go on here for £50 + postage. It's brand new with box and tags, it's been worn a handful of times.

Tut. You're wearing it wrong. This is how Casio suggests you you style it.

  • "Handknit jumper pensive coffee wanker"

Holy shit Casio has some weird marketing personas.

  • "hmmm I should have bought an OP"

  • "but I can't get on a waiting list and my death is closer than next availability. Damn first world problems"
