• Outside chance my 325i will be sold this weekend. Sure we had a difficult start together, but since it’s ecu debacle it’s done nearly 2 years /20k miles of utterly dependable driving, so I’ll be sad to see it go, but with the Irish motor tax system and increasing fuel costs it’s been getting annoyingly expensive to run, so we’re changing both of our cars for a new family load hauling appliance.

Currently top of the list is a phev rav4. Why? It’s big, reliable, cheap to tax, and will do 70k kms on a full charge before switching to petrol, so there’s a good chance we’ll rarely put petrol in it for daily duties, and only for bigger trips.

We live on the west coast of Ireland which has a very limited network for charging a full ev, so they’re off the list.

Is there anything else worth considering? Not interested in anything with a Diesel engine.

I don't know much about phev tech - will rarely using the ICE side of the car have a detrimental effect on the engine? Re: oils and other fluids
