He wasn’t exactly a fan of the bicycle:

Ha - was that piece in jest or not?! Good writing, shame it's making that particular argument

Everything he wrote was at least partly in jest. It's a style that leaves you to wonder how much if anything in it is something he really felt and also gave him the cover, if backed into a corner, of saying "It's a joke and you have no sense of humour". I'd guess it was mostly a joke but he'd have loved to double down on it if cyclists were outraged. There wasn't a "cycling lobby" really back then, though.

My Dad was holed up with him in Sarajevo in the holiday inn during the civil war. He knocked on my Dads door one night and proposed “Hey Bob, let’s get shit faced knee walking drunk “ and they did.
As above he played the part and as fair as I was told by my dad wasn’t like how he wrote in person but liked playing the role

Jessi, the Brixton/West Norwood/Stockwell transvestite/fashionista/cyclist/etc... has died:

To be honest I found her difficult to deal with, but that was probably the idea. The article says she died in November. I could have sworn I saw her in January, but now assume this was a feverish dream.
