• Ended up finding a suitable ply door blank in MP Morans and they cut it to size. The builders have whacked it right in today which was something of a surprise but no complaints. It needs a decent amount of finishing/oiling. Assume the process is just going through the grades of sandpaper to achieve the desired finish then applying an appropriate wax oil? I've got Osmo clear matt that I used for my floorboards which is presumably the best bet? Also have danish oil for worktops... any advice gratefully received!

  • Nice - osmo is my default for finishing - check the tin for prep and recommended sanding - 240 i would think. It will change the colour a little - if you don't want that go osmo 'raw'.

  • Nice one, thank you! Yeah, I'm REALLY regretting leaving the offcuts at the builders yard, would have been really helpful as testers to see what finish I preferred. TBH the door is so pale it could probably benefit from a bit of osmo yellowing but will see when the units are in and how close the tones are. Thanks re the recco for the raw...
