Adri van der Poel’s pigeon pie is a good one. His poor father-in-law!
I wonder what stance on doping one might develop growing up in that household.

Strange crash by Higuita at Algarve. Just lost control sprinting uphill.
Hayter up there in very good company. I thought he was supposed to be shaping up to be a cobbled classics type rider.

Foss and him touched, at those speeds and with riders sprinting it's very easy to lose control.

It wasn't strange at all. Two riders connected, probably an arm and bars = direction of travel very quickly going wrong

Remco putting nearly a minute into everybody in a race issued skin suit LOL

392 watts would do it I guess

How was that not a relegation for Philipsen in the sprint?

Ronan wrote an article about him deleting his Strava data.
Also commented on his higher hand position and shorter cranks - almost like the pros have finally caught up with TTF posts from 5 years ago... -

He crossed two virtual lanes – in the most dangerous way, closing against the barriers – in the final 100m of a 50km finishing straight. Need some consistency.

Closing the door is a legitimate tactic, as long as you do it gradually and without dangerous movements. I don’t think Groenewegen has much to complain about, he knows if he tries to pass in a gap between a rider and the barrier then he runs the risk of having the door shut on him.
The move he did on Jakobsen in Poland was different, as they were side by side when he closed the door.

Sprints
2.3.036 Riders shall be strictly forbidden to deviate from the lane they selected when launching
into the sprint and, in so doing, endangering others.I guess you could argue that he didn’t endanger Groenewegen, but I’m not sure how! There’s no reference to doors in the rules AFAICS.
Philipsen launched his sprint and then deviated from his lane, forcing Groenewegen to brake mid-sprint to avoid his front wheel being taken and falling into the barriers. I’d argue that’s endangering following a clear deviation from lane. Overhead shot shows it clearly.

That rule isn't worth the paper it's written on. Sprinters deviate from their 'lane' as a matter of course, if it was consistently applied there would be disqualifications in every sprint. But it isn't, and neither, in my view, should it be. Absolutely ban dangerous riding, but sprints are high risk and you can't sanitise them by insisting riders stay in an imaginary 'lane'. What next, we insist that race organisers create lanes in paint on every finish?

messy sprint at the UAE tour

Richeze was DQd and Meeus relegated in the past week due to ‘closing door’/lane deviation. Can’t fathom why Philipsen wasn’t.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we see painted lanes within 12 months.

I look forward to the sprint train battle for the best lane

They should number them, then allocate lanes to the teams by drawing numbered balls out of a hat.

Eddy Merckx was proposing just this back in 1991. Thankfully the UCI didn’t listen.
